Hi i am due to collect my speedmaster in a couple days. It has been lowered and so has shorter shocks on rear but as i am a little on the ch..... ok a lot on the chunkie side i think i need to revert back to normal is it just a case of replacing the shocks? or is there anything else likely to be involved ?

You say you're a little on the cheekie side and a lot on the chunkie side ? No problem, we still love you. Just get you some stock length (12.5 inch) heavy duty shocks, like Progressive 440's and you'll be fine. All that could have been done really to lower that bikes is fork springs, rear springs and seat , so you should be OK.

Heavy duty 412 s work well too, just not as good as the higher end ones, Hagons, Progressives, Ricors, Works, etc. I think 440 s have recently been supplanted by a different number designation, new and improved now, I'm sure.

what type of shocks are on there now? Depending on how "full" a guy you are you may be able to adjust the preload on the current ones to work, hard to say worth looking at before you spend anything more, otherwise the idea's above are you sollution.

I had my America slammed, front and rear with progressives. Had to put on a shorter side stand...which would always drag on low left turns.. also, the fork shrouds would often slam into the front fender mount bracket

Yeah, I'll drag my sidestand every now and then, my '03 Speedmaster is slammed 2" front and rear. I cut 2" off my shrouds to keep from hitting the fender. At 190 lbs. (and gaining) I can ride 2 up with my 110 lb (mostly boobs) wife and rarely drag.

Gotta say even with the stock length Progressive 412s I run on my '02 BA, I still scrape the pegs a whole lot while ridin' the mountain twisties around here, and thus I can't imagine lowering my bike at all. (...but then again I suppose IF I lived in some boring flatland area that had no twisties, it really wouldn't matter all that much, huh!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
