I am considering purchasing a 2007 Speedmaster. It's Cranberry red, has 22505 miles and Hardstreet Side Bags ( kinda flimsy - will have to be replaced with more solid hard bags), Bestem Top Box (flimsy - might just trashcan it...), Bar Ends, large windscreen and lowers, luggage rack, Rider Backrest, Leather Bar Bag, Custom Footpegs. The dealership is asking $4350. The EGR is still in place (no delete). This bike looks to be in really decent condition. My question - Do you think it is worth the asking price?

I think that is high because of the mileage. About 3 years ago, I gave $4000 for a 2004 that only had 6000 miles on it. But that wasn't from a dealer.

Offer $4000 and take 'er home. She's a beauty with rather low mileage.

I have 'found' another , 2012, 2000 miles on it, same color, aesthetic-only mods, for $7450. But it's 350 miles away. Left a message with the owner to see if it is still available. If so - I will have a bit of a round trip planned this week....
I really like my Speedys. But am also wanting a new T-bird. Decisions, decisions.... LOL!

Much different riding positions between a Speedy and a T100. Sit on both and figure out which one is for you.... Or if you have enough cash, get both!

T100? I think he means a Thunderbird.

4/4/2012 Purchased Prudence (2007 America, odometer 1182.2) in Port Orange FL for $4,500.00 cash. And I thought that was a wee bit too high.

The NADA guide lists its average retail at $4800. Even though these motors go forever I think that the miles are a little high simply because bikes with that kind of mileage generally show a little more cosmetic wear than ones with 12,000 or less. Being that I can't see the paint and finish up close like you can you have to make that call. I am also of the belief that accessories don't add value and you eat that on resale or sell those seperately. I would agree with Keith, offer $4000 and take it home.

A thing is only worth what the haver will be a keeper for or what a wanted is willing to be a giver for.
In other words make a lower offer and haggle. You will come to a median price and both will be happy.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I agree, make an offer and go as high as it is worth to you. I disagree about the extras, while it is true they don't add value if traded or wrecked they maybe worth something to you. If the mods are something you would do if purchased stock then they save you money and worth something to you. In the end if you want that bike and it is going to make you happy then it is worth as much as you are comfortable paying as long as you are not looking to make money or get your money back selling it.

My point about the extras was that you already indicated in your post that you would ditch them or replace them, so I wouldn't let the dealer use that as that as an excuse to not budge or drive up the price.

Go for the later one, buying EARLIER AND USED will definitely hurt any resale value. The earlier ones had trouble with the idler gear boss cracking, but i think 2007 may be late enough it's not a problem any more.

nice bike, not to bad a price, corbin does not make a gel cell solo seat for this bike though, could be just their regular seat which i think is great anyways.

I paid $4500 for my 2005 America which also had some extras but not quite in the same shape (couple paint scratches and stuff). So yeah, I'd say you have a pretty good deal there. If you can talk the dealer down even more - awesome! But if he doesn't budge, that's still a quite fair asking price.

the 2012 has some advantages over the older bike: EFI being a big one, fully digital, and a bigger gas tank with better mileage, the wheels are different sizes from the older speedies and Americas so tires are more available (tire options for the older bikes has dwindled recently)
side by side the EFI bikes seem to have a smoother power curve and a bit more low end.

Well, looks like I might have to change my screen name to "2012Cruiser". Heading up to Wisconsin tomorrow morning to take a serious look at this Speedy... It's a 2012 with 2875 miles on it. Their OTD cash price is $5600. I like the fork gaitors, but am a tad unsure about the peashooters. The sales manager said they give the bike an "Unusual, but really nice sound". Whatcha think?

THAT, is dead sexy! Colour, fork gaitors.. A real beauty.. Those pea-shooters do look a bit out of place however.. I would deem them acceptable.. should they make the 865 mill sound sinister.

I agree the pea shooters do not look as good on that bike as the scepter pipes, the fork gaitors are a plus though. price looks very reasonable
where in WI is it?

I guess I may be in the minority here, but I love the color AND the pea shooters. A little retro to go with your bad as$ Speedmaster.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the 2102 with the peashooters. First thing I noticed when I got there was that the fork gaiters were gone. Seems the right side one had a tear in it so they cut them off. BUMMER! The peashooters sound pretty darn good, but I really don't like the look very much. Sceptres are sweet, but pricey..... Another thing - The previous owner had installed the Air Injection Removal Kit. Is that something I need to be concerned about on an EFI Speedy?
I'll post pics of it in a few days.

Having the AI already removed us a bonus. There is no downside to having it removed. Throttle control in the low range (0 to 10%) is better, smoother without the AI. Also less popping on deceleration (closed throttle). Enjoy your new bike!

Thanks! Took it for my first short (25 miles) ride tonight. Smile was ear-to-ear the whole time. Those peashooters are growing on me. The only way I have to describe the sound is "Classic Triumph" and sound awesome when the throttle is cranked. I'll have to post a sound clip when I get the time.
