I am in need a bigger bike. I love my speedmaster and will keep it but my wife and I need more space. Because of some financial problems I cant get a big loan for a thunderbird at this time. I was looking at the prices of Yamaha road stars they are nice bikes Most have big bags already on them, and way to much chrome junk but I have found a few around 04 for 4000-6000 dollars. what our your thoughts guys?

Got a buddy who has had his since 02-03 and has never had problem ? That's what I know about them. Very harleyesqe in most every way except no problems lol

Ya I don't like the harleyesqe part but I like the price for a bigger bike with bigger bags for longer rides and I like the idea of a second bike so I can bob up the speedy more.
Life need a little Triumph!
2008 Triumph Speedmaster, Single baffle drag pipes, lots of black powder coatin,K&N pods, AI removed, TBS needles and a procom cdi.

Why not just pick up a used Hondabago, you can bring the kitchen sink. The one I rode made a slight tick-tick noise at speed and you could probably light a cigar with a match behind all that plastic.

Your wife can sleep along the way and you'll arrive at your destination wondering what just happened. That's was our experience. They handle much better than most people think, but they do it so effortlessly, you don't feel like you're riding a motorcycle. And yes, you can light a cigarette with a Bic @ 70 mph.
Just remember, you have to dress alike and plaid is recommended.

Used Thunderbird or used Rocket III !!!!!  but the yamma-hopper v-star is a good bike IMO

Mt cousin just bought a Road Star and I rode it for a few miles last week. I liked it. Very comfortable and plenty of power. Good looking. Even the massive radiator blends in pretty well. It's the only metric cruiser I ever considered.

The cheapest bird in my area is over 10,000 dollars if you can find the one for sale and I have no interest in a rocket III.

That sounds like a Royal Star Venture to me.

I have an 05 Tour Deluxe... 1300 venerable v4. I have put 25 thousand miles on it including a coast to coast ride. It is two up comfortable, mile after mile after mile. Also the real live cruise control is worth the price of admission.

You can find a used Rocket pretty reasonable if you keep your eyes out. I have a few friends that are loyal Yamaha riders. Dependable as heck. Cycle Trader - 2007 Rocket III

I have been watching this thread - all the while looking for a used star myself. It started as looking for a used one via Craig's list. The search lasted nearly 3 months. The goal was to find a 1300 Tourer or Deluxe at a steal. I had given up and decided to buy a new leftover roadstar at what I considered a very good price. On Monday, a friend and co-worker returned to work following a lengthy illness, telling me he has given up riding. Weather permitting, I'll be bringing home an immaculate 06 stratoliner. She's huge but equally pretty. I may dub her Adele. And although I'll do my best to give her a new home and plenty of love, I have no intention to cast my beloved J-Lo into the hands of a stranger - for I love her still.
