Hi folks,

I'm new round here, so hope this is ok.

on Friday I got my full bike license and took my beautiful bonnie out for a ride in the hills. I live on the border of an area of the UK known as the Peak District which is one of our major tourist destinations and a big spot for bikers. There is a road called the Cat & Fiddle Road (named after the Cat and Fiddle pub which is on that road) which has been the most dangerous road in the UK because of the number of bikers who die on it. So of course, since this road runs down past my house pretty much I just had to head out on it on day 1! ... well, why not?

This is a picture of me and my new toy!

And this is the route I took for my first ride! http://bit.ly/1kMivPW

She's a Triumph Bonneville America, 2010. Everything standard as far as I'm aware.

Welcome and congrats on the new ride.....

When I got mine, I had an 8 hour drive to get it home. There were bugs in my teeth because of the perpetual smile sickness.

Welcome Reverend.

Riding those roads can be another spiritual experience.

I had a pastor once who told me he rode to clear his head. I had to ask; Are we that bad!?

Welcome to the forum. Try to reduce the size of the photos to 640x480 they will post much cleaner.

and maybe have a look at your mixture, i have never seen double walled headers on these bikes go that blue before, maybe its just me....... that would be a nice scoot in those parts for sure.

Thanks guys!

This is a second hand bike, one owner from new. It had only done 1800 miles in three years, so it's not been very used. Mostly it's in pristine condition ... but yes, the headers have discoloured. Actually they're more a rainbow oil pattern than just a simple blue. I imagined it is some oil leakage which got heated by the exhaust and has caused the discolouration. No real idea though.

Regarding that colouration on the pipes... I imagine the AI (air injection) is still in place. Removing that stops the bluing process.

(This is assuming AI is still part of EFI bikes.)

PastorEv, I used to live in Levenshulme before emigrating to the States in 1980. The Snake is a fun road but very dangerous too. Hiked all over that area in my youth. Kinder Scout, Jacobs Ladder in Edale. Absolutely beautiful countryside, God made it for us to enjoy.

Welcome Padre! I love your bike choice (black is the best color and also the fastest).

I think the blued headers give it a bit of a Hot-Rod look. Check the mixture, yes, and Air Injection? If it is on the EFI bikes, does it need to stay? What about emissions testing? euro-spec? Anyway, I wish I had let my headers blue before I removed my AI way back when.

Great looking ride! Enjoy! Be safe!

First of all welcome Pastor! Nice bike I test rode a 2010 about 6 months before I bought mu 2011 model. Yours might be an early 2010 since it has the mechanical speedometer sometime that year they switched to an electric speedometer with led odometer.

The bike looks like it has original exhaust so I don't know why the EFI is running lean enough to blue the double wall pipes. Mine have no blue at all before or after TOR exhaust were installed, and SAI is operational.

The Cat and fiddle, awesome road that, lived many years in Nantwich, know it well. You should try the Bonneville America Rally at Dent in June. Couple of us travelling from IOM.Contact member birchr if your interested, went last year, good weekend.

Welcome to a great site. Nice back drop in the photos. Looks like a great stretch of road to ride on.
