Just bought a 2004 America. My other half wants to share it which means I'll be in the passenger seat so I tried out. All I can say is OWIE and that was after 5 seconds. The one on the bike was definitely made for a size 4 or smaller tushy. Wishful thinking on the part of the designer, I guess.
I searched the forum and came up with the Maverick seats. Problem is I'm in the US and they're made in the UK. Does anyone know approximately what it would cost (shipping and customs charges) to get one into the states? Or is there a comparable seat manufacturer in the US? Mustang doesn't do Triumph, Corbins are too hard.
Once I find a replacement seat, I think I'll pass this one on to a dominatrix friend of mine. I think she'll find it useful.

Your description sounds like your America might be fitted with the Speedmaster 'Gunfighter' seat. I've heard that complaint often, but never so negatively regarding the America seat which has a more "tush" sensitive seating surface. If my guess is correct you may want to see/try a two piece America seat. If I'm wrong and a corbin isn't your cup of tea, you might explore finding someone in your area that does seats - Maybe add some padding or change the density.

I surprised she hasn't asked for it already.
btw corbin will make a soft saddle. You have to specify it when ordering. I believe the key word is: embroidery.

If I recall in the early years of the America Triumph made two pillion seats. The one that came with the bike, a convex design that was akin to sitting on a slab of wood with a railroad spike covered with vinyl. Then there was the "upgrade" with a bit of a concave design. A bit larger and softer for the US's larger, posterior I suppose. While no pillion pad on the America will be gigantic the second version is a superior seat. I would suggest you try to source one of these and give it a go. Happy Tails To You

Triumph's third version of the pillion is the cat's meow.

The 2007 America saw the advent of a restyled chain cover, pillion, footrest hanger & upper fork shrouds (tapered). Also the steering stops where narrowed.
The second iteration of the pillion was not model specific (I think) but rather an upgrade to the original oem pillion for the accessories catalog.

My wife thinks the same way you do, but she also has a back issue. Before she decided she did not want to ride anymore I did some research on a product I saw at an event. ButtyBuddy. You can find them at Buttybuddy.com. It is a 150.00 seat that can be adjusted to fit over an existing pillion or used on a naked fender. My wife liked the feel at the event, but she only sat on it for a minute. You might check it out and see what you think.
