I just bought a 2005 Triumph America with 24miles on it...yup crazy, and I am looking for a winshield (larger style) and floorboards. I am a new rider, female, 5'7" and the Bonnie is a stretch for me. I may need to change the handle bars too since they are wide. Any suggestions? I want to run my Bonnie in Poker Runs ASAP! Welcome Julie. I have victory handlebars on my America and also larger risers. I'm only 5'4" but it works well for me. Fast Eddy is the guy to contact to help. He's great.

Thank you for the help on handlebars. I need 1" diameter bars and 2012 is 7/8". I found out by buying a replacement that is smaller than the stock bars. I rode my Burgman 400 (scooter) today in a Poker Run for charity, and my hubby rode Bonnie. Update: we bought her with 11 miles on her! The first owner didn't ride her at all! Anyway, I noticed the tail light is pretty minimal; any suggestions for updates? I want to be safe having the time of my life ! Having a good ole' time on the backroads of Missouri Julie

What I thought i had bought were new "take offs" from a 2012 America. As described be newt - I think they are what we are looking for: narrower with a slight pull back. Except the ones we have are 7/8" So I suspect they did not come from an America. Got them off e-bay, but the seller will take a return, so OK there. Do the 11-12 America's have 1" bars - if so, that is what we need to look for.
Note - had the dealer due a carb clean / tune up / etc to this bike. Runs like a top. Great engine - much better than a Sporty. Handles the twisties great too. Just now need to get Julie started on it.

I've been using the Tailblazer taill light flasher for several years now. My neighborhood is on a road that people typically drive 60mph on. Being stopped to make a left makes me mucho nervous. Since installing the Tailblazer, when I see people bearing down on me, the difference in their response is amazing when I hit the brake. So much so that I have started flashing my brake lights on my cars as well. Here is a link for it:

welcome to the site Julie. The america bars (older) are pretty wide, the speedmaster bars will likely work for you but then you have to go with a pull back riser, not sure howlong your arms are but even iwth the rivco risers i find it to still be a reach. I am 5 8 with shorter arms. You might want to look into a bar/riser cobo, make sure 1" bar and 3.5" riser spacing, there are some out there, Harley etc that make nice bars that will fit these bikes.

Hey Julie, welcome to this site. About those bars and such... it can take a bit to 'dial' it in to fit you just right. Bars, risers, and adjustments thereof can all play an important role is making it right for you. Now, for me the America bars felt too wide at first, but after getting used to them I find they really add to the handling of my machine.
Stick around, ask question and be a part of a family of great people and ideas. Oh, and may ALL your rides be happy and safe!!!

Hi Gary & Julie....welcome to the BA forum! Sounds like you got on nice deal on your new BA too...(sic: really low miles!!!) Kieth's right.... Quote:

My BA had 12" mini apes on from the previous owner when I rode it home & they felt good esp. on the highway. I put the stock bars w/ risers on & rode for about a week but didn't like the stock bars at all (stiffness in my shoulders after a long ride). Got a set of 10" apes and rode w/ those for the rest of the year & they were great, but after a recent spill went back to 12" apes for better control (the 10's were too narrow in the center & made handling really flickable).

Welcome. I wanted to answer your windshield request. I am a big guy and wanted a big windshield. I went with the Switchblade from National Cycle. Then they didnt have Triumphs in the fitment chart, and they suggested the mounts for another bike which worked well. It is huge though. I sent a picture in some years ago and I think the good Friar tole me it looked like I had mounted some old superhero's shield on the bike.

This is a picture of my old 2004 america, this has the slipstreamer screen on it. The screen was bought from the US. I am 5foot 11" and this worked good for me.. Oh welcome aswell Gary & julie from this side of the pond. Without the screen on and the front end off the speedmaster including the 2007 wheels.
