I have unilaterally decided to institute the NCAA 'death penalty' on schools that play their fight song after...every...f*$!#@g...play. That is so lame.

the whole ordeal is lame, get rid of the BCS and stop using college sport programs as a professional farm system

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I am neutral on the BCS. But as a past college football player I'd say give the players a cut of the billions they provide the colleges. As for college sports programs being a being a farm system, you could say that about any college department or graduate school.

I used to feel that way, as well, but my current position is this, after all is said and done (i.e. tuition, room and board, etc. is paid) the full scholarship athlete can take out the same student loans the non revenue sport athletes have to take out to pay for their education. They just won't have to borrow nearly as much.
All three of my kids are/were Division 1 athletes. One actually made it to the NCAA Championships. But they were in non revenue sports and only got partial scholarships. My daughter competes for an Ivy League school (hurdler and heptathlete)and they don't give athletic scholarships (or any other kind, as far as we can tell).

I just think in the case of huge profit centers the workers should participate in the profits. Most non-revenue generating sports are financed by football and in some cases basketball. I don't have a problem with non-revenue generating sport athletes getting a stipend or even academic scholars.

I love college sports (all of them). It's the professional sports I don't care for.
