Yes friar ..it did mean something different, people have sure quit using that word.It meant "to be happy" got tainted somewhere along the way.

Spaniards, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and Mexicans speak what is nominally the same language.
But it's quite different due to accents and idioms.
