Hmmmm. I'm sure that will do the trick but looks like a lot of work.
You can pick up a two sided lug tool for $10.00 at the local hot rod shop.

I have been at this building thingsl; for way to many years,these took 20 minutes and i'm 3 miles one way from town.so i saved $10.00. Sometimes gets to "easy" to spend your money when you don't have too.course i am retired.plenty of time, and they were usable in a 1/2 hour

What also works is a spark plug socket. Like the one pictured. Put hex end in the axel shaft, and an extension into the square drive. Works perfect.

Trouble i found doing this was .i would have had to grind the chrome off first to fit it.And i eliminated all the wiggling around while trying to hold both sides at the same time.Yours are "much prettier than mine" though

Uh huh, nice job there, Bob! But...and you have to know THIS is comin' here...how come there's no reflectors on those babies, HUH?!  (I mean, I know you've got a couple of 'em lyin' around that garage o' yours somewhere...possibly right next to that bottle of Argon, maybe?!)

Anyway as a result of owning my Trumpet, I bought a set of...
Not too expensive and hugely useful for all kinds of things on our bikes (including dealing with the front wheel).

I didn't even think about it, believe it or not. This kind of stuff is just in my head!,thanks for the compliment.
For instance have you ever drove thru town[in a car]and got to the otherside.........And you don't remember the trip across town cause you were thinking about something else?

I did the same as you Bob except all I did was heat and bend long bolts with the right size heads.
