I sent my 18 year old to the Dr. this morning for a sore throat, dizziness and cold like symptoms...You guessed it. Oink oink. He still sees his pediatrician at 18 but thats another story. She said that he is the second case she has seen with no fever. It's a mild case and he will be back to classes on Monday. They prescribed Tamiflu for 5 days. I am just hoping me and my 89 year old Dad that lives here don't come down with it also. We are taking precautions and our Drs are recommending the Tamiflu for us also, even though we haven't exhibited any symptoms yet. It's kind of weird to see it on the news happening in Mexico and around the U.S. and then experience it first hand. My co-wokrwes acted like I had the plaque today around 12:30, when I found out.

I saturate a mask with ethanol , it keeps the pathogens at bay .

Welcome to the club.. daughter came home for the long weekend break and promptly started exhibiting symptoms.. doctor confirmed and prescribed tamiflu. By this time, the wife and I were already coming down with it and both of us hit pretty hard. Today was the first time I've eaten anything solid since early last Saturday. It's a pretty wicked influenza strain, but like all of them, with plenty of liquids and bed rest, you eventually kick it. Best medicine is prevention though, so everyone go wash your hands now that you have read this!

Cheers,
Brad

I run a little ethanol through my circulatory system every night. Maybe that'll work too.

In the mean time, maybe you could talk the boss into letting you have time off (with pay of course) to "protect" your co-workers?

That's good information Ed, Thanks.

I went to work today to open the doors at 7 (my little volunteer duty) before anyone got there to get some paperwork I can do at home. I wrote on the grease board I was taking leave as a precaution to protect you loosers. I hope I have a job Monday.

Sorry to hear about your son. But glad the doc figured it out. Here in NV, the health dept. told me that some of the tests done in family docs offices are unreliable with false positives and negatives. I learned this during an investigtion into the death of a twelve year old. This young girl got H1N1 and then caught the MRSA bacteria. This is what killed her. The health dept. told me that the CDC is finding a lot of cases were MRSA is involved with H1N1. MRSA is commonly known as the flesh eating bacteria. It is prevalent everywhere and if it gets into the blood stream, it is "always fatal." Take care of yourself and the family. So far, this strain of flu seems to be attacking kids and young adults. It is unusual in the fact that it seems to be leaving the normally flu vulnerable elderly alone.

Sorry to be a downer,

Rick

Thanks Rick. He has a good Dr. and I called the day after he was coughing all night. Yeah I heard on the news that this strain targets 6 month old children to 20 year olds. I am fortunate that my son got the mild version. It could have been so much worse. My Dad and I still show no symptons.

Did you hear what the difference is between swine flu and bird flu?

There's an oinkment for swine flu.

The bird flu has a tweetment.

I know I know

Dr confirmed on Thursday that I have it. I have beem on Tamiflu ever since. Yesterday was the first day I was able to keep any food down. I am going to try to eat something semi-solid today (bread bowl full of soup).

Hey you know you don't have to be politically correct around me Dan.

I know I could wear all 20 hoodies, then you all would catch it.
