I never knew Derek, chances are, I would never have met him.

What really spoke volumes about him was the look on Dwight's face when he told us the news in Poland.

I could clearly see that a good friend had passed away and Dwight reflected on what a good man Derek was.

My thoughts are with Derek's family at this dark time.

I didn't know him, yet I feel that I did. We spoke via PM's a few times about bike stuff, and as a long time member here I have read all of Derek's posts. Very hard to accept that he is gone. We will all carry on and I know that he will be in everyones thoughts as we ride.

I never met Derek in person but I read most of his posts and took part in online discussions with him. He was always thoughtful and respectful of others while making his point well. I think I would have enjoyed meeting and speaking with him and I know he will be missed here. RIP Derek, I hope the roads are twisty and smooth where you are.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I was fortunate enough to meet Derek when he rode up to Phoenix to meet the riders of the empire on their way from Florida to California. 2004 I believe. We walked outside and looked at his bike in the drizzle while he good naturedly chastized me for not riding in that evening. I had to pick my uncle up at the bus station but that didn't matter to Derek. He told me to never miss a chance to ride. Linda, I am so saddened by your loss. My prayers are with you. Dan

I am Derek's older brother.

I have been looking at bikes for a few months, I guess that I'll have to get a Speedmaster, this time.

Our family thanks you for your condolences, as we lost a very talented man..

As alot of you know, and I will have to look back at his posts, Derek could be the source, for numerous hobbies and interests. When Derek had a good opinion on something, he could be insightful, sarcastic, and joking, all at the same time, as he had always had, a sly wit about him.
Expert at lots of things, we did industrial and commercial construction together in the 70's , then he joined the Air Force, and could pretty much take apart a C5-A Galaxy ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldP5fbPh5Lc&feature=related ( Woodworking, BBQ'ing, camping, fishing, and most of all , riding.. Derek was always good at what he undertook..

We loved him like a brother, that he was.
I'll be around, hope I can catch some of his Speedy advice..
Thank you
Steve
Special thanks to the friends, especially John, Jimmy (hope that names right, it's a blur) Scruffy, Melinda, Bumper, and Todd, and others. Really

Hello Steve. I'm one of those that never met your brother but was a recipient of his timely, high quality, and kind advice. I lurk much more than I post and Derek's posts have always been among those I really look forward to learning from.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family--John

I would like to add to my previous post.

Derek was very talented. He was a champion swimmer, the best among 3 champion swimmers, in the family, I think Illinois State Champion, in the backstroke.. I think. Derek was also a scratch golfer, on hard courses.. I wonder how many clubs, ended up in a lake... His hand wood planer ability, along with his expertise in the tools, made him a great woodworker. Like I posted above, he did excel in his abilities in the Air Force, and played golf, for the Air Force, for awhile, therefore getting good, and I believe, that he met Linda through golf..
So many other talents, and such a wiz, at current events, with right on observations..
He will be missed, especially Thanksgiving..Derek, and Linda both, can cook up some good eats.. His fishing prowess is 3rd, only to my older brother, and me, yet Derek could catch fish galore..
Always determined to know more, and be really good at things, and get a kick out of it, that's Derek..

Linda -

As much as I (or anyone else that knew Derek) could be saddened by this happening, I'd like to think that somewhere in the clouds, there was the following conversation:

Sal: Welcome aboard, kid!

Derek: Thanks, got here sooner than I thought, but, what can I say, but, 'Glad to finally meet ya.'

Sal: Thanks kid, I knew you were a fan. Word gets around. By the way, seems you had yourself a bunch of fans down there, too!

Derek: Yeah, I'll miss 'em all, especially her...

Linda,

I'm sorry to hear of Derek's accident. Although I never met him face to face and we didn't correspond here on the site on any regular basis I had the feeling of great respect for the man. I always felt he was one to listen to when he spoke whether you agreed with him or not.

My best wishes to you and your circle of friends and family and my regret for never having shook his hand.

I have been re-living my brother Derek here, for a few days..

I got back 300 posts, and will have to figure out how to get beyond.. Arsenal does suck, as does Chelsea. Get over it..

THis is horrible news, my simpathy go out to Linda Steve & family. Sorry I never got to meet the man he sounds like one of a kind.
he died doing something he loved not many get to the other side that way.

I absolutly hate the way the story makes the acciident look like his fault.

Wish I knew earlier. Would have said a extra prayer for Derek and his family at church. RIP my Friend. I heard they sell Triumphs in Heaven.

Steven, one of the moderators might be able to help you get beyond the last 300. I honestly don't know if it is possible but I'm sure one of them will come back with an answer to that. Would be a blessing!

The only thing I can suggest is to go forum by forum on the search page and limit the time range to a few months at a time. It's more time consuming but there's no way I know of to override the limitation.

Look Derek, I found a way around something that was typed, and lost in the ether. I brought it back, by some miracle, love steve.. I sincerely hope, that some semblance, of the Sal Maglie/Derek Mosher connection, has entertained, and educated the meager masses,. Derek be laughing.

Never got to ride with him, my biggest regret..... oh well

I don't wanna get flooded, but if a good picture, of Derek, can be sent to PM,or whatever, it would be appreciated. I can forward any, to Derek's nieces and nephews, that he won over, with his heart and wit... and talent.. My 2 sons, amongst them...

Steve
And I still haven't showed up to the new Triumph dealer down the street. A BMW-Triumph dealership, who'da thought ??

Hard to believe that he's gone.

I didn't know Derek other than through this forum, but over the last 6 years I have made so many good friends through this site that the loss of anyone has a genuine impact on all of us. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends.
