That's why I cringe every time I see a guy riding a crotch rocket while wearing a t-shirt. Even worse is when they have their girlfriend on the back and she's wearing a t-shirt and sandals. And they just passed me on a blind corner doing twice the speed limit!

There used to be a spot near the Rock Store where we would sit on the side of the hill. You can see 3 or 4 blind curves from there and watch the rikiracers crash each other and skin themselves.

I have to admit that riding a cruiser with a T-Shirt and half helmet
feels great, but the thought of going down and loosing my skin causes
me to wear gear 99% of the time.

Ouch! I needed that to remind me that even on a short run to the store I need to wear all my gear. Lately I have been cheating by wearing the shorty helmet and a tee shirt. I need to take out the liner on the jacket and wear at least that with a full face helmet always.

I think riding a cruiser with half helmet and jeans and t-shirt is still quite a bit different than riding a sport bike in the same apparel. Sportbikes are made for a knee dragging style of riding, which is going to present more risk of low-siding like that. I'm not leaning my bike nearly that much in the corners. Not to say that things can't go horribly wrong, but they seem to go wrong a lot less on a cruiser. I will always wear 1/2 helmet, jeans and boots at a minimum.

Roadworthy, I'm saying this with nothing but love brother...
your jeans will slide for 4' before your skin takes over the asphalt grind. I NEVER wear just jeans. I am severely tempted to buy a half helmet though, for the three block runs to the grocery store. Stay safe.

Most accidents happen close to home (that's a fact Jack). I agree protection is great, but I also compromise. It gets hot in FL and I do use a half helmet and wear a T-shirt riding in hot weather. I never ride without at least boots, full gloves, jeans, and a half helmet - same with all the people I ride with.

I do the t-shirt jeans all the time. But never go with out a helmet, gloves and boots.
