Well, I've been gone two weeks and nothing much changes around here, does it?
On the nineth I was admitted to the hospital with a 104.6 temperature and a raging infection in my right leg, probably from some kind of spider bite. Lot's of expensive IV antibiotics and an arseload of tests followed and they never did actually figure it out.
Came home Tuesday and have been in bed ever since. Everything else reads normal: bp, bs, temp, wbcc, etc. Keeping the leg elevated to get rid of the last of the swelling. More pills (including percs...yay).
Still not doing much on the computer (tapping this out on my Nokia tablet...painful) so I still won't be on this site much. But wojo DID catch me on xboxlive today.

Get yourself well soon. I have not been on this forum long but from what I can gather you are the one person that will be surely missed even for such a short time. I for one will miss your charm, wit and dare I say sarcasm. Again hope everything is going well. I spent 5 days in hospital 2 years ago with a massive kidney infection and I know just how you feel.

Hey FJ get well soon, I likewise haven't been around here long. But as has been said before , you certainly have some sort of icon status here. You are always helpful and wity to boot. One day when I get to the states I will definitely be looking you up. When the swelling goes down, I'm sure you'll enjoy one of these

I knew there was somebody missing around here. Just couldn't think of who it was. Good to know you're on the mend.

Hey John... get better soon. Take loads of Vit C and I mean loads and that will kill any infection you may have. Meanwhile the percs help and your fans are with you.
Thanks for touching down with all of us.

Hey FJ, you get better real soon, ok. Don't like to hear of any biker being stuck in bed for any reason, except those to delicate to mention. I bet your not feeling any pain from your percs, I know how you feel, Bob and I have split a bottle of Pinot Noir, so right now, I'm pretty relaxed to. Get better, ok.

Man, John! I thought you might've been on a vacation or somethin', 'cause YEAH...I have to admit I DID miss ya around here. (...and that sure doesn't sound like any trip to Puerto Vallarta to me, dude!!!) Hope you're feelin' ready to ride real soon, ol' buddy!!!

Sorry to hear about this, John, but sounds like you're back on the mend. Percs with scotch don't help the healing but sure makes the wait more fun. Be back in the saddle soon. Pedro

I hope its going well with your recovery. I just left the rehab prison hospital after my Jan 2 sickle accident.
Hospital stays get old in a week let alone 14 weeks.
Those percossets sure do the trick dont they? I have been on them for some time. I probably have some degree of dependence but those little pills sure make the hurt go bye bye.

I once had major (funky scar) intestinal surgery & spent 2 weeks in the hospital. The doctor said not to be brave & request the demerol injection whenever I felt uncomfortable. I always seemed to feel "uncomfortable" about 5-10 minutes before "Police Story" came on the tv at 10:30.
That was 1978, I think the buzz has worn off..........but I am still comfortable

I can't believe you beat Dwight to the punch on that one. I set it up perfectly. Ya know they tested my blood sugar twice a day for several days until I convinced them that I don't have diabetes. And this whole thing started a week after my physical which also showed I don't have diabetes. Not all great big fat people have it.
Got out and about yesterday. Picked the Shelby Dakota up from the shop after a major tuneup and new exhaust system (cat was clogged -- okay, don't go there). It really scoots now. But between that and a trip to the drug store I was exhausted, too (get it? I was exhausted and my truck was "exhausted" I kill myself).
And I haven't even had any percs since about 2am.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine a few years ago. They never found the cause, and decided it must have been a spider. Hope you're up and about soon.

I suppose utter drunkenness will help to dissuade pain. But a nice combo of a couple of percs and a beer or two every four hours does an execellent job of leaving you relatively functional whilst being as pain free as you might want to be.....
says one with multiple broken bones and a waylaid corpse of a body after a traumatic accident.
PS. In no way do I suggest drinking while taking narcotics to be adviseable.
To each his own but be careful. I cant drive or ride anyway and am confined to home.
Mixing alcohol and narcotics can be deadly if done irresponsibly.
Ask Heath Ledger. Part of his OD death was supposedly Oxycodone which is generic perc.

Spider & tick bites can be quite nasty. Friend of mine was bite by a Brown Recluse spider TWICE! Lucky for her the Jameson's killed the pain.

My sister was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider when we were kids. Her whole arm swelled up and changed colors, lucky that's about all that happened, That I remember anyway. I don't remember any tissue loss or anything.
Glad you are doing better John.

All this warm fuzzy sympathy for FJ is very heartwarming, but has anybody thought of what a horrible death the poor spider probably died?

Back in my time in the mob, they used to tell us that we should look sympathy up in the dictionary. We'd find it somewhere between sh** and syphalis, neither of which we would get from our instructors either. Glad you are on the mend

I got bit uner my arm last summer. Thankfully by a non-descript spider. Pulled a door frame apart and it dropped down onto my arm. I saw it and instinctively closely my arm against it, it bit me back. It hurt like a bee sting for about an hour, than the pain went away but it itched like mad for several days. I try to stay away from those little SOB's.

Saw the Doc today. He wants me staying home another week. He's afraid the infection could return and he's also concerned that some of the problems with my skin, especially on the shin, are a different problem than the infection.
