If it's not one thing it's another....

Yesterday, I nipped into the city centre to get some coffee beans. There's one I really like, and asked for 500g. They'd only got 350g and she said they'd charge me for 250g as they sll it in 250g amounts.

Bargain!

Did a bit of other shopping as only a woman can...but didn't really buy any thing. And went home.

Why is this called really expensive coffee???

Cos it's gonna cost someone else around £2500 to get my bike repaired...
I got T-boned. Some idiot didn't see me and so pulled across where I was merrily going at 25mph. I don't remember much..I think my brain has blocked it out.
It's not just bent the fork, one of them has a rip in it, (If I was technical I'd tell you which bit...I may go on BikeBandit and look exactly which bit) the fork oil went everywhere, bent the wheel, broken a spoke, only one mind you, the wheel has moved and so bent the brake disk and probably knackered the caliper. And the bracket that holds the back brake reservoir is broken too. I'm not sure if it's bent anything else. The figure is from what I can see is broken. It's at my dealer now and they're gonna call me later, as are the Insurance Companies Solicitor, and a Bike Hire Company. (No-one's keeping me of the road. I might be timid the first time, but no-one...)
And it was a hire car. My mate here has told me that's probably easier to claim from, but it's still gonna be weeks. And there are complications that I can't really go in to.
And I'm at a Rally this weekend, where I was hoping to reclaim the best Hinckley Triumph Title that I won last year... Unless the hire bike is something spectacular...I don't think that's gonna happen.
Me - I'm aching this morning. I went to the hospital to get checked out, I whacked my chest on the speedo, and it hurts to breathe at the mo, and other than a few bruises and a bruised ego, I'm ok.
Just mourning the loss of my pride and joy. I know I should get her back, but I look out the window and she's not there. It's a bright sunny day and I was going to go out riding. And I can't.

Maybe I should stick to instant in the future...

Gina, it's a cliche, but at least the bike can be repaired. The main thing is that you're not too badly hurt.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope you're back on the road as soon as.

Cheers, Simon.

Gina, realy sorry to hear about your accident, hope you make a speedy recovery. If it's not your fault, claim for everything, the insurance companies can afford it. Admire your spirit, same thing happened to me, got straight back on, even tho was potted up,which was interesting.
Take care
Andy

Gina,

At least you are here to complain about the moron and to write about it on the site.

Best of luck with getting back and the road and to a speedy recovery.

Hey G
So sorry to hear this.
This is what happened to me so I know what you're talking about.

Glad you're here telling us about it mate.

I'm packing and getting ready to head back to Blighty right now and will be landing around 8am ish tomorrow.

I'll bell you as soon as I can either charge my mobile or get to a landline.

Get the bike fixed and we'll come down and ride out with you.

See you soon.

OK just not at 8am....

I've had people scowl at me down the phone (a real skill to see it....) cos my mate's bf took me to hospital on the back of his bike... nothing like getting back on the horse after falling off...

I'm feeling better for venting it here. Just keep looking out my window and seeing an empty space. And sod's law...it's a sunny day. Was going to go out.

Oh well...

And thanks for all your thoughts.

The coffee is nice. The contents of my rucksack - including the new one person cafetiere (or however it's spelt) in one piece. Shawn was at home...

And the Thruxton...it's the dealer's bike. I'm waiting for a call from a company that specialises in hiring vehicles to people who've had accidents. I've asked what bike I'd get, they said something like what I ride...what's the beting it's a Hardley??? I have warned them that's the last thing I want...but begger's can't be chosers.

Could've bean, should've bean; all much preferrable to being a "has bean". Glad you faired allright Gina. This is the second relatively slow speed cage induced collision of this type in a few days on the board. Be aware people.

Reminds me of the cowboy days when I or a mate would get bucked off, or kicked, or somehow laid out on the ground in a prone position. Proper etiquette has it that bystanders remain quiet until the person lying in the dirt can move limbs and crack a smile. Then it's all one big joke

Good coffee has miraculous recuperative poweres, Ride on...........

I am very happy you are here to vent. Recover soon. If the bike rent company has Honda and not Triumph get the shadow, you will like the bike. Sits a lot like yours. That is if you don't want a Hardley.

Ahhh Gina, sorry to hear some cager plowed into your beauty, but glad to hear you're alright. Hope you can get your bike fixed if you really want it back, but if it's totalled I'm sure you'll find a replacement. Won't be the same, but in time you'll grow just as attached to it as your old bike.

Had a company on the phone....

I'm getting a hire bike! Hopefully tomorrow. Just told them I don't want a Harley... but they're all up north apparently, so I shouldn't get one. She's told the office in Brighton that's going to be dealing with me that I'd really like a Triumph to borrow, but can't promise!

Sooner I can get back on...

Internet coffee shopping...I can't choose beans without smelling them. Or.... why can't Whittard's be open at 2 am when there's no traffic? I'd go after work...

[goes off else where...]

Hey they've got an online shop!!!! And it sells the one I bought yesterday!!! Hmmm...I may retract that not buying online comment. I can do that at 2am.

GinaS,

I had the same thing happen to me last month on an island while touring 2-up around Greece.
However, I managed to get away with just a bent back brake pedal which scraped all along his front bumber (fender) and number plate (tag).
Don't ask me how I managed to avoid him because I was sliding all over the place and eventually ended up on a pavement (sidewalk) taking my friend Kathy for some window shopping.
It was the little @&%#'s first day in a brand-new car (he actually called his Mommy).

I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck but am glad that what's "most" important is undamaged.

Yeah...yeah!

Like everybody else here Gina, I'm glad to hear that you're reasonably okay, and your bike seems to be very fixable.

BUT, what REALLY impresses me here is your "get right back on that pony" attitude!!!

You're an INSPIRATION, lady!!! And, here's a "tip o' the hat"...er...helmet, I guess...comin' your way.

Cheers,

Gina,
Bad news but glad your in one piece even though a little bit bashed and bruised....... my mom always told me coffee was bad for you!!!!!!!
Concerns that it was a hire car was it a tourist or what? don't let the hire co's insurance off easily they will probably try and clear it up fairly quickly with a specialist (bike)hire involved, just check the hire is not for a limited period and for full time to repair, this can give you a bit of power in the negotiations.
Take care
hope you get all mended soon,
Mike
