Hey All,
Just wanted to say hello....Picked up my 2006 America about a month ago, been riding my own bike for 17 years....I'm so in love with this MC! "Switched teams" after 4 HDs, and I'm soooo digging this bike...so sweetly balanced, such a beautiful look, a joy to handle, and I love getting off not feeling like I've been riding a jackhammer....Any special Trumpet secrets I need to know to more fully enjoy my ride?

Hi Paula, Congrads on your new ride. Welcome to the site. This place is full of amazing info. First thing your going to here is remove the air injection system(AI). It will save your pipes from turning gold and blue. Chrome will last much longer. Look forward to talking with you. Erwin

Welcome first of all The bikes great stock and it draws people there are tons of stuff you can do to it to make it even more your own read the site but more important is you bought a bike that is ment to  be ridden. Ride it enjoy it an welcome to the best bike site on the net!!!

What color did you get? As for Triumph secrets I've only been on my America for less than a month so i'm still learning em.My advice well...you are a veteran rider combine your own experience with the input from the group.
use what makes sence to ya.

I just bought an America too. A used 05 with the muffler baffles removed, Air Injection removed, and carbs rejetted. Get ready for fun, these Americas rock.

Welcome to the group. You can pick up a lot of tips and more concerning the bike by just browsing through the posts. As someone finds an issue, new product or how to do something, it usually ends up on the board. If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask. There's usually someone who can answer it..

Hey what part of MA? I got my bike in Shrewsbury. Looks like we might have another one for our CT gatherings!! Be prepared to talk about your bike a LOT more at gas stops than you used to!!

These bikes get better with age. The more you ride them the stronger they run. I've had mine for 28 months, have 22,000 miles on it and like it more than I did when it was new. The folks on this site have been great and will help you with any project or upgrade you may consider. As others have said, your first modification should be the air injection removal. After that just ride a lot and make whatever changes your personal tastes call for and your wallet will allow. Luckily on our bikes the performance modifications that make the biggest improvements are fairly cheap, some cost nothing and just take a little effort. Enjoy!

Hello everyone!! Thanks for such a warm welcome!!
First off....How do I change the thing under my username that says "stranger"?? "Strange" I'll occasionally cop to, but I'm no stranger.....more of walk right in and act like I own the place kinda girl.
Gina ands Stormcloud- thanks for the feminine welcome- I'd love to hear more about your experiences as women riders....One of the reasons why I bought this bike is because the lower center of gravity lets me use my hips in steering.
Second- why remove my AI? What will that do exactly? I upgraded to the offroad "silencers" rather than pulling out the baffles, the dealership said they didn't have to rejet the carb, just adjusted it- I wanted a little more noise to my ride.
I'm waiting on the low profile seat to come in from newspeedmaster.com...I need another inch to be completely flatfoot. Took off the p-pad, put on a fender rack, I love the look of a solo bike....not planning to add bags cuz I love the clean look, standing from behind this bike has such beautiful curves....I'd like to pull the tail-lights in a bit at some point.
Bennybmn- I picked my bike up at Armand's in Halifax- had a wonderful dealership experience. Only problem is that they don't have a organized group of riders. I'd love to connect with some other MA triumph riders, maybe you could help me with that? I'm on the South Shore.
And yes, this bike is a conversation starter for sure....lot's of old school bikers come over to admire this bike and tell me their old trumpet stories. I was at Perewitz'Custom Cycle open house the other night, parked next to a couple of sick custom choppers and my Pretty Bonnie was holding her own court. Lol.
Off to drop my daughter at her dnce class, and then I'm off to channel james Dean and Steve McQueen.....

Removing your AI will help to keep your header pipes chrome and not purple. Also it helps when you want to check your plugs. The system puts extra air in the exhuast heating and leaning out the mixture, supposedly lowering emmisions.
I am running the tors (offroad pipes), and like them loud enough that you know the bike is running but not so loud as to give you a headache. I rejetted and switched to tbs needles. Check out pat's dinqualotor for proper jetting.

Welcome Paula! A wise lady you are for sure. There's some good tech stuff at my Dinqua.com website . Next year we expect to see you over at the NorEast rally, we'll let you slide this year since you're new, but don't let it happen again. And Georgia is in the spring, first weekedn in May. Lots of us ride down for that one too.

I'd say you're already in tune with the rest of us and you've discovered "the secret"...our bikes handle well, have great balance, are fun to ride, and with a unique look that attracts attention.
If you want more performance, there's a few ways to do it. Taking the snorkel out of your airbox opens up the air flow a little better and allows you to put in bigger main jets. So that means more fuel + more air in = more hp and torque. If you want to take the next step, removing the airbox altogether nets a big jump in jet size. But none of that is abslutely necessary unless you really want more power.
Having owned my Speedmaster for over 3 years now with 44,000 miles on it, my personal recommendation for a first upgrade is the suspension. Progressive fork springs are about $70 and worth every penny as they greatly reduce fork dive under braking. They also make a couple of different rear shocks to improve the ride. The 440 shocks are the most popular and really smooth out the ride plus give the bike even better handling.

Hi Paula, I'm also a newbie here, but I did make it to the NorEast rally... dont' let anyone tell you otherwise, the peeps are pretty cool... <BG>
and Pat makes the best beer I've EVER had!
Also have a Harley, I like it better for long distances because the Triumph is so agile, it handles more like a sportbike... found out that if I wiggle and look around sightseeing, the SM goes all over the road! The Hardley just sits there... <BG>
And I can pack more stuff on the Harley, it's a little bit bigger bike. (I got a Deuce) But for fun, you cant' beat the Triumph!
My SM is like riding a sportbike without all the uncomfortable stuff...like leaning on the wrists. Way cool.
Hopefully I'll see you at one of the rallys...

Welcome from another Mass. Triumph "chick" (although my husband likes to remind me that it's been a long time since I was a chick)! I call my Trump my "60-year-old-man magnet" cause it attracts them like flies. Definitely get the AI out of there before your pipes turn that lovely purple color. Other than that there's not much else needed except making it your own.

Yes, LOL, the "60 Year Old Man Magnet", I'm finding this to be oh so true...and I'd much rather have a decent conversation about bikes and riding than be hit on by some guy who handled his midlife crisis by spending $20,000+ on his first bike and forgot to take the price tag off his Harley jacket and who doesn't know that bandanas are what you wrap your tools in!

I mostly ride in central MA and northeast CT. There are some amazing roads out here! I agree about the conversation. I could talk about my bike for hours with someone who knows what a Triumph is. I don't have much use for those who ask "Hey, who makes that?"

I get out to W. Boylston for my job periodically....can't wait for the next time, I'll be on my new bike! Quabbin and Wachusett are beautiful areas for riding.....If you ever need some good suggestions for Cape Cod or Islands destinations, let me know...
I have a button on my leather that says "Yes, it's my bike."...If I had a dollar for every time I've been asked...lol!

I'm loving this site and the forums, as you say, great info/opinions...trying to figure out how to get pix of my bike from the digital camera onto the computer to upload...lol...my daughter is the techie in the family and she's been rather busy being 14, not much time for her mother.

Hey Benny- now's the time to hit the Cape and Islands....the tourists have left, the weather is still beautiful, off season prices on accomodations, some amazing seaside riding, always a blast to ferry over to Martha's Vineyard and......and .....LOBSTAH DINNAHS!!!

Bagirl.....you said you ride a lot in northeast CT......ever
hit the "Vannilla Bean" in Pomfert?....great place to stop....always packed with all types of bikes....I know I saw a BA with Mass plates there once.....plus a T-100
and a Rocket III also with Mass plates.
