I thought Kawasaki killed that bike. It's not bad. Almost reminds me of the Trophy (that Triumph mistakenly killed).

Definitely nothing like the Winebago-ish old one I saw with more lights and chrome strips on the back of it than a big rig...

More pics here from the Kawasaki dealer show.

Nice bike, but I just can't stop thinking about how much insurance would be.

Yeah, with that kind of engine, it's going to be astronomical! heck, I priced out insurance for a VFR, the insurance would cost almost as much as the bike would!

Ahhh! The advantages of bein' an OLD FART!(54)

I remember when MY insurance man, a few decades back, looked at me and said...."You're buying a WHAT??? How big and how fast is that puppy???"

And then he made that "cha-CHING" sound.

Re: This new Concours...I like!(except for those EXHAUSTS!)

Nice bike and being a Kwacka you can bet it goes like the clappers.

But, whats with the ugly exhaust.

The ZX-14 that it is based on cost about $11,900. I wonder what this puppy will cost? It is nice though.

I sure wish the Triumph ST was more like this. The Yamaha FJR and the Honda ST are awesome bikes, I have ridden them both. This looks like it will be as good. I rode the demo Triumph ST for about 20 minutes last year and felt like I needed to visit my chiropractor. I loved the way you could think of turning and it would go. Power, power, power - whenever you wanted it, but just too small for me. The others fit me very well. Since speedy will be paid off soon, I will be looking for something along these lines.

Maybe a late model Trophy? Nice bikes, What was Triumph thinking?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I keep looking around for a used Trophy, but to no avail. Hard to find used ST1300's, no one ever seems to let them go. If they do show up used, they are too close to the price of new. FJR1300's have heat on the left leg problems until this year, so no used ones available yet. Luckily I'm in no hurry. I can wait for the right deal to come along.

I'm sure the hardcore COGs will wonder why Kawasaki has just cut out the entire market of sport touring riders who loved getting a coast-to-coast machine that has an MSRP of under $10k (8500), for a machine that will now compete for a segment of the FJ, ST, and Beemer high dollar market. Heck, for the price of an ST or FJ, you could get 3 good used Connies.

Not that I have really looked that hard, but I have not seen many used Concours available in my area. I have never ridden one. Not my favorite as far as styling goes, but I'm ugly too, so we'll match.

Don't be so quick on the ST1300 I bought one in May and have had an issue with the heat it puts off. At 40deg its great at 85deg its uncomfortable on the legs. working on a fix though.

The guys that have the new FJR say the heat problem is fix and it should be for as much work as Yamahammer went to to eliminate the heat.

Having said that if you are tall the ST1300 is the bike. real easy to get it comfy. BTW the stock seat is worse that the stock BA one. Change it asap to a corbin, sargent or anything.

Johnny,

I didn't ride the ST1300 for very long - only about 15 minutes or so. It was a pretty hot day and don't remember it being too hot on the legs. Of course, a 15 minute ride wont tell you a lot anyway. Everything else fit me like a glove. When you are 6'-3" 260, it's hard to fold yourself up like some bikes require. I felt that the Sprint was too much like a sportbike.
