Does anyone else think that the super expensive belt drive conversion is kind of a rip off cause its not even chrome, You would think for that kind of money you would get some nice show peice..

I want a belt drive badly. I have not been able to justify that much money for it. Even if it was chrome.

Items that have little competition can get away with it. If there were 10 others making them for our bikes no doubt some would be chrome.

You want to see expensive try getting custom 3 inch belt drive systems made! 1 for the right side and 1 for the left!

I just can't imagine a couple pulleys and a belt having that much production cost. Me thinks somebody is making a serious margin on them, as in several 100 %.
Then again, they are allowed to charge anything they want as we are allowed to choose if we buy or not.

If it was that easy there'd be competition. Once upon a time someone was working on a kit with billet pulleys with an estimated price of $650. That would've been a lot nicer.

I too think that if someone were to offer that at a more attractive price range and agressively market it on this site and over at Ratnet....well they would sell more than a few.
Even if they were to take advance orders with a needed "good intentions" payment that would work.
It do seem a bit "marked up" to moi as it is.

They may be a bit marked up, but I haven't heard any complaints from anybody who has one. Tmax seems to be happy with his.

I have the QPD belt drive on order from Brent, so I guess I don't think it's a rip-off. It's a custom part, and is expensive, but it's what I want. As to the finish, with saddle bags, it'll barely be visible. I bought it for function, not fashion, anyway.

You cannot even see the front sprocket and the back is a very nice quality part. The outer parts are stainless and can easily be plished like chrome. I do beleive he will chrome it for a few more $$ if you want. He sells them in anodized black too. Ozzie is a very cool old guy that makes these one at a time as they are ordered, he is not looking to get rich, he takes his sweet time too. Quality is worth waiting for. I love mine, very easy to install and mucho smoother ride. And NO chain oil anywhere.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.
