Hmmm... Everyone knows I hate to start rumors , But maybe the approach is to 'ugly down' the BA /SM line prior to introducing that 1475cc cruiser that has been keep secret for so long - My source says the tarp comes off her in November. Includes wide colour range, Spoke and cast wheel options, belt drive, Water cooled (with hidden radiator where the air box would normally be), F.I., tour version(s), and a complement of accessories that would choke a hog rider. Wait and see.
Did your source also tell you that it will be a triple and be named "America"?......
As I had said in a previous thread -er, rumour - 1. The BA and Speedmaster will become one homogenated model-evidence of that is in the new releases 2. The new model name, which will encompase the BA/SM derivitive, will be 'Speed Twin' - a re-emergence of a retro-name which eliminates the 'America' name, retains reference to the historical roots of the vertical twin concept, and maintains the illusion of 'speed' - all major sales and advertising ploys. 3. The Speedmaster name resurfaces as a semi-downsized version of the Rocket 3 engine. - The difference is that the engine will mount laterally, use belt instead of shaft drive, and will have a non-visible radiator and will NOT have a tank wart. Another design + is that the engine will be finned as though air cooled (purely for appearance) AND GET THIS - One year following introduction, a second version of the Speedmaster Triple emerges as a Thruxtonesque version that will resemble a quasi-cafe/classic racer styled bike - This version is already slated to recieve the reserected 'TRIDENT' name. So, boys and girls, there IS a "two new models" commitment on the horizon. The commitment to the new models being 'cruiser'/retro-traditional is because the most recent new introductions have been from the sport/sport touring segment.
All ya have to do is wait a bit...
Oh, and just because i was asked in another thread - This new Speedmaster (the 3 Cyl.)will be unvailed in LATE November. It will NOT go on sale until APRIL. It will be sold during the initial '07 introduction as an '08 model. The PROBABLE intro of the TRIDENT will be with the introduction of the remaining '08 line in late '07.
