Quote: Well, it does look like the guys at the big T are listening.....
How many of us have polished/ chromed our front ends? Altered our sprocket covers or peg hangers?
The new america wheels look a little harley-esque. How much more classic can you get?
I think they are listening. Some of us have been critical about the George Foreman grill, grey fork legs and grey Speedmaster front wheel. Those are areas they've changed. I like the looks of the new sprocket cover. I've put on a Bonneville black cover on my Speedmaster, and I like what they've done with a slightly more oval shape.
But in the long run, Triumph aren't making changes on our account. We've already bought ours, so I think they're trying to tempt new owners. How many of us would buy another Speedmaster or America? Aren't most of us looking for something with more power?
I for one don't want belt drive and EFI. If you're going to go retro, nothing wrong with chain and carbs. Carbs aren't that bad, and they're a lot cheaper to mod than EFI where you usually have to buy some kind of power commander like device, and not everybody has a laptop to change the inputs. I also don't mind the chain, and it is nice to be able to jump around with the front sprocket size for only $20.
I like the America wheels, but IMO they should've kept the spokes and put those new rims on the Speedmaster. Don't care for the speedmaster's new wheels....looks too sport bike-ish.
