as a few of you may have read, my bike is in the shop again, this time it was running on 1 pot,it started off as just a bit of a blip when doing about 65mph, then just went onto 1 pot!. when the bike had cooled down, it ran ok untill it warmed up(2min in the service station car park).
the breakdown bloke said there were no loose wires or connections and he tested the elec circuts as much as poss, the coils wernt getting even warm(as they do if they are breaking down).the exhaust got so hot it burnt the chrome off it.Any ideas of the cause?

Does sound electrical- I ran my bike with a plug not firing- it wont be as simple as that??

Is there fuel in both floats? ( the reason I say is it is about 1-2 mins to drain the fuel from the carbs by ignition)

I must warn you though, my mechanical knowledge is worse than my attempts to learn chinese, which amounts to " 2 portions of no 41 and a bag of prwan crackers please"

mine did that, but it was one of the coil wires under the fuel tank was loose, double check by removing the wires and putting back on, maybe the rubber boots are stuck on but no good electrical connection. hope it's that simple

Sounds like your CDI unit.
I had similar problems and had it changed 2 months ago as did member Salmaglie before me.

well its under warrenty,but i just wanted to know wot it could be?, the R.A.C, bloke said it wasnt the coil, or the LT/HT leads?.he just said, the reason the chrome had burnt off the pipes was due to unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust system, n igniting in the pipes with the heat?. i suppose the shop will come up with their own reason?

Talk to member dill about that one...his happened a few months ago and sounds like pretty much the same thing.
