Thismorning, I got in the car to head to work. One NY station was playing all acoustic, commercial free music. Some interesting "unplugged" versions of popular songs, some 9/11 themed songs. IT was great.
I heard TWO stations play Ray Charles version of "Oh Beautiful" which was great. One played it so it ended at 10:29 and then observed a moment of silence for the first tower falling. I thought that was nice. then they faded in the intro to "With A Little Help From My Friends", the Joe Cocker version. It was awesome!! Chills. I love that song anyway, but it was perfect right then.
Q104.3, the NYC classic rock station, does blocks of requests at lunch anyway, so today they did blocks of songs for people that reminded them of 9/11 with little intros from the people who requested them. It was really nice.
Can you tell I spend a lot of time in my car?

Some of it was hard to listen to, I really don't like it when I can visualize or imagine some of the circumstances that people faced that day, but it was good. As someone who finds a lot of inspiration and energy from music anyway, it was nice to have it with me on a day like today.
