Well after just shy of 2500km in 5.5 days I think we managed to cover most of the eastern half of New South Wales. We saw some of the prettiest countryside in Australia, rode THE single best motorcycle road in the country (and I'd say one of the best in the world!) on the Putty Road, 165km of twisty mountain roads with no sign of civilisation that leads from Singleton to Windsor (on the outskirts of Sydney), and even found snow on the western side of the Blue Mountains - my first time riding in it and Stewart's first time seeing it! Of course we also managed to drink nearly our weight in beer since we stayed in country pubs every night. All up a good time was had by all, and plans are underway for the next one.

The bikes handled the long distances and constant high speeds without missing a beat. The only performance issue of note to come out of it is that my bike (almost identical specs to Stewart's) consistantly used a litre of fuel more for every 100km. I put this down to a combination of three things -
- firstly I have a roadster screen that pushes a lot of air where he has no screen
- secondly although we both have 18 tooth front sprockets my rear is one tooth larger than his (for towing the trailer which I left at home this trip)
- and third we're both running standard pipes that have had 2 baffles gutted and are running the same jets but his exhaust note's slightly louder than mine, and mine handled the cold a little better which leads me to think that mine's running a little richer than his.

For those interested, some snapshots can be found here.

Matt,
Welcome back mate! Yeah you're right. The Putty road is a great ride. I get to do it about 3 or 4 times a year. From Sydney out through Richmond and up the Putty to Broke. Backdown to Hexam through Maitland and then a real quick blast down the freeway home. No matter how many times you ride it the Putty is always a challenge.
