What warranty work have you had done?

The dealer I bought my TBA from has closed and the Victory/Duc/Guzzi/Big Dog guys have taken over. They said they are "waiting to clarify" a few things about how they are going to handle warranty work. That got me thinking about what work has been covered by warranty for everyone else. Before the dealer switch I had a rear brake rotor replaced on warranty and that's it.

Thanks in advance for any feedback...

The airbox exploded about 3 months after I bought it. 2 years ago.

Rear brake light switch and one speedo cable loop (then I gave up and bought Brent's). I think I've only had the rear brake reservoir recall done.

Oh, I just remembered, I had an evaporative control valve replaced under warranty also.

Had the rear brake resevior moved for the recall, and they replaced the oil pressure switch & sub wiring harness coz my oil light started playing up. Oh and the speedo cable retainer got replaced two days before I got my chrome one from Brent. Anyone want a barely used OEM one?

The only warranty work I've had done is replacing the speedometer (was way off).

Not entirely sure. Something on the carbs. I think it prevented them from being balanced. All I know is when they replaced it and balanced the carbs, it ran like a scalded ape.

Had gas tank (inside) painted, no replacement, for peeling paint. Battery replaced and electrical connections under tank shrink wrapped.

Short answer - there's a difference factory-related problems, and dealer-related problems not covered under warranty.

Almost got Foothills Triumph-BMW (Denver) to replace the tank after my triple trees dinged it. At issue was that since the (now-defunct) dealer in Grand Junction had removed the tank to install the tach, it was a dealer issue, not a factory one. If you recall my previous postings, Shel Barr, Triumph National Service Mgr, spotted the improper re-install at Sturgis in 2005, when I was about 10-12 feet away from him.

The service manager at Foothills did properly re-route my wiring, and clean things up under the tank, gratis (actually, he submitted the claim to Triumph USA and ended up eating it).

Well where do I start

Side stand
Front Disc/Rotor X 3
Front Wheel
Rear wheel
Clutch Cover
false chrome air filters L & R side
Rear peg hangers L & R side

Not as much as I thought when you write it down, but it's the hassle of taking it to the dealer for photograph work to send to Triumph..

My sidestand waited until long after the warranty expired to break otherwise I could've added that to my list.

The only thing I have had done on the speedy was the r/h header pipe - replaced because the welds for the heat shields had broken. The dealer was great about it and quick.

The only warranty issues on my TBS were the front brakes squealed bad - the dealer finally put on new pads ("all brit bike brakes squeal" BS!). And I had an oil leak the day after I brought her home - I had bought a left-over that had sat for a year and an o-ring had gone bad. Took care of that real quick - Gave me a gallon of break in oil while they ordered the oring.

None yet, but going shortly, my '05 TBA is losing a cylinder from time to time, stopped to get gas yesterday, started her up, and only 1 cylinder firing. Then, just like someone turning on a switch, the other started firing. Don't know if it's a gas or firing problem, but strong smell of gas (none visible) when this happens, then a small "backfire" through carbs. Called dealer (Chattanooga), they say they will do the 12K check, and repair problem, for $130, including parts (oil, filters, check valves, balance carbs, entire list)....can't beat that price!!!

Check all your coil connections and plug wires. Also, pull your plugs to see if they're fouled.

Oil leak on the CAM cover. They never fixed it. I ordered a new chrome cover and that fixed the problem.

I had the shaft seal behind the front sprocket replaced under warranty. Had it done by Foothills in Denver (already mentioned in this thread). Great to work with.

I also replaced the exhaust gasket on the left header yesterday, but I did that myself. I suspect that it was damaged when my wife had her "incident" on the bike back in June. I had the other Denver dealer, Erico, diagnose that and I bought the gasket from them. They too are great to work with.

I've had one recall (rear brake reservoir relocation) performed, and have had five warranty claims.

Busted Throttle Cable
Busted Speedo Cable
Leaking Fork Seal
Busted Tach
Complete engine rebuild because of sheared oil pump gears.

Warranty is long gone now.

Lets see...

Tail light inop same day I took the bike home. Found to be a short in wiring harness inside headlight.

Oil leak from cluch lifter/ told it was cosmoline (yea right)

Second oil leak from gear shifter input shaft.

Front rubber cable retainer broken (does this on all of em) repaired with a new one but I note it is broken again. (a poor design) and something the Triumph Engineers should remedy.

I had the dealer put a new chain on becauase of perceived rougness in final drive but this was I believe perception. I had this done at 2000 miles. The service rider told me later he rode a couple more America's and Speedies and they all felt the same as mine.

thats all.
