My father-in-law has an old BMW R 100 S with fairing. I rode it a couple of weeks ago and when I blew the horn, it was scary. I'm not sure how loud the horn was to others, but being mounted inside the fairing with the rider, it was super loud to me. The pitiful stock beep-beep on my BA isn't in the same league. I'll be looking to upgrade.
