I really want to replace my rear blinkers (move them to the side and use silver bullets) I mentioned this to the mechanic at the dealership when I brought it in to have my 600 mile service (which on a side note is a feaken rip off 170 for essentially an oil change). He told me not to do it, that they customized a speedmaster recently to make it into a bobber. He told me that the custom bullets they added kept blowing the wire harness and that the guy they did this for had to replace his harness twice already. Is this mechanic scare tactics to make me buy triumph only parts or is there some truth to this?

Fiction would be my bet. Lots of folks on the forum with all manner of LED, Silver Bullets etc.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I didn't move mine but I do have LED min-bullets. No problems. Maybe they used cheap ones with bad grounds? Or they wired them wrong? They should blow FUSES before they burn up harnesses...

Did mine 2+ years ago and have had no problems. They are not LED's but I think they are trying to scare you.

Only problem I had with mine was that water got into one of the front blinkers and over the winter, it pretty much dissolved the ceramic bulb housing. Just replaced it with a new one and it works as good as new.

I've had the large bullets on mine for a long time now and haven't had any problems. I just bought some spare 20w bulbs for them and the web site said not to use the 30w (35w?) bulbs if you use colored lenses. That's the one and only thing I've ever heard about as a possible problem with silver bullets...

Let me guess. Your stealer is H.O.P. or Cycle Riders? What a moronic thing to say, what he told you. I could make your oem headlight blow out your wiring harness. It all boils down to how you wire it. Jeez.

I use 35w bulbs with my amber lenses...no problems. I figured that warning is only if you use them as running lights.

Almost 3 years here with Kuryakyn large silver bullets next to the license plate and no problems, not even a burnt bulb.
