Just got off the phone with Corbin about my 2005 America. They told me that their pillion is not compatible with the stock Triumph solo seat. They said that I would have to buy their solo seat with their pillion. I can buy the backrest for the driver later on if i choose to do so. The hole is allready there. Sounds a little wierd to me. Both seats mount up the same way into the same holes in the Triumph rear fender, so why are they not compatible? Any thoughts out there?

My main saddle came with different bolt because I got their pillion but I know the stock bolt would have worked as well and you'd think the stock pillion would then be able to be mounted.

They'll be a bunch of us in GA in exactly three weeks and I'll bet we could try this out. If you're willing to wait, I will bring this up while there...

Phil, Thanks for getting back to me. No, the wait is no problem as the mad money fund is just about depleted for now. Dropped the bike off this morning dealer installing windshield.

A terminology issue arises. Triumph does not sell the Americas nor the speedmasters with solo seats. They do sell the speedmastiffs with a combo saddle/pillion. Maybe that is the confusion. Forget what they call that particular combo. My Corbin pillion will work with the stock saddle. Not that I would want to use the oem saddle. And I am using the oem saddle bolt with the Corbin saddlery.

trash,

Some say yes, but mine wouldn't. I had to take the rear mount off of the Corbin rider seat and install the rear mount from my Triumph rider seat on the Corbin, then everything works like stock. And I didn't get a bolt from Corbin, I used the stock (well, one from Brent, actually but same difference) bolt.

rider = driver as opposed to pillion = passenger....

I had to use the OEM pillion brackets on my Corbin pillion. The Corbin driver seat fit fine with their brackets.

It is a bit of a tight fit getting the stock pillion on with the solo corbin, but it can be done.

The corbin web site says it will work with the corbin or stock pillion... If you go to the speedmaster page there, then down in the little installation instructions box on the bottom. Shows it there. Now if only they made a passenger pad with a built in backrest.... THAT would be sweet. I don't want the look of a sissy bar, but my gf wants a back pad...
