Here's the creepy part. This puppy will hit YouTube in about 5 seconds...

LATEST: The footage of late Australian naturalist STEVE IRWIN being killed by a stingray could be shown on TV. Charismatic Irwin, dubbed the Crocodile Hunter after his internationally acclaimed TV show, died yesterday (04SEP06) while diving on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Irwin was filming for a new documentary when he lost his life, and his cameraman shot the moment when the stingray's barbed tail stabbed the legendary conservationist through the heart. The tapes are currently being held by Queensland police - but Irwin's family are determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast. Irwin once insisted, "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. "Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me." An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "This is exactly what Steve would have wanted. He knew the dangers and was totally up for the cameras to get everything."

RIP Steve,
I grew up in the outskirts of Sydney during the 60's and as kids our major pastime was catching lizards, snakes, spiders and the like. Us Aussies have a great affinity with our unique wildlife and getting "up close and personal" with animals of all kinds is a rite of passage for Aussie kids. Although Steve may have looked reckless in his approach to snakes and the like That is exactly the way Kids of his and my generation caught things. My thoughts go out to his wife Terri and his two children Bindi and Bob.

Brett Growing old disgracefully.

I liked him. I think he did as much to bring environmental
awareness to the forefront since Jaques Coustaue(sp?), or
Jane Goodall did. He knew the risks, and he went with them.

I think the planet has suffered a great loss.
I feel for his wife, and kids.

He had a set of balls on him. I'd never poke a stick at a
rattlesnake, or wrestle a gator. I think he did it, not
to show off(or make money), but to bring these experiences
to us all.

As a kid, I was fascinated by Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom
with Marlin Perkins, and Jim Fowler(running through the bush
in his bare feet).

Most people aren't even aware of their surroundings???

I read a quote from Russell Crowe about him "he was the Australian we all wanted to be"

nice sentiment but I would say "he's the guy we all wanted to be"

Unclecharlie, how come it was always "Be careful Jim while you wrestle that wild boar" (all the while Marlin is standing in the front of the Land Rover safe and sound whilst Jim is getting his arse kicked by the animal of the week! Oh, it must have sucked to be Jim....

Marlin seemed more friendly with a chimp than Michael Jackson!

Let me know if, and when you're coming to CT, so I can
assemble the "Welcome Wagon"!

Right now, I can only narrow it to sometime between the 25th and Oct 1st, as I have a BUTTTTTTload of stuff to wrap up here before heading to snow country(grin), one of which is building a rig to hold the bike steady in the back of the U-haul(going to rig up tie downs and a pair of 4x4 beams, and then additional bracing once I get that far to make sure she's safe and sound. The cats on the other hand, will be free to slide around as they see fit (although since I'll be towing a car on a trailer as well, I am pretty sure my driving will be VERY sedate on the way up!!)

Get your bike here, and we'll do a ride up to the Toymakers
Cafe for a Brittish Banger Platter Special Breakfast.
You'll understand when you experience it.
