 Low oil pressure switch

The rubber boot covering the switch is is ripped.
Would I be ok to wrap electical tape around the boot & then cover that with duct tape?
Or not even be concerned about it?
I really dont want to install a new boot because of the problems I could run into.

I wouldn't worry too much about covering up, plus I've read a few threads on the rat.net where water was able to collect inside the boot, and cause the idiot light to give a false indication of low oil pressure. If you're concerned about it, just undo the screw that actually holds the wire to the sender and dab some dielectric grease on it.

And....the best part...you can only get the little boot if you buy a complete wiring harness. They do not sell it seperatly. I've tried. I just dielectric greased it up and put some black tape on it.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Careful using duct tape on electrical stuff; conducts electricity.

Can you unhook it? If so, pull it off, grease the snot out of it, and then slide some heat-shrink into it and shrink it on. new boot.

ditto the dielectric grease. I made the mistake of using high pressure water washing the engine area, and got the false light too. Greased it up good, and never got that light again., pretty scary when it first happened though.

A bit of shrink tubing should do the job.
