I really don't get how you can twist the bar-end while holding the throttle, all with one hand while moving. I suppose you could let go the throttle and set the lock then twist up the throttle to where you want it, but that seems really "klunky" to me. For me, I'd be a lot more inclined to get either the BrakeAway or Vista cruise controls (more accuratley called Throttle Locks). The Vista's much cheaper and does the job, but the BrakeAway has the benefit that it automatically turns itself off if you hit the front brakes. This gets around one of the biggest accident-causing issues with throttle locks.

Matt, there are some posts on the subject in the "search" program. Basically they say that vistacruise don't make one for us. Their 1" universal they say the body is wrong for us, the rubber underneath is wrong and the bar brace that comes across to the left is also wrong. I bought a brakeaway unit & it has 3 adjustments on it. Could only get 2 of the 3 adjusted after many hours of trying. sent it back successfully. The throttlemeister they say you just keep pressure on the unit with your little finger while sliding with the rest of the grip through your hand to engage. Seems that it is the easiest to install but it's $150. I talked to the company and they want us to retap the grip end cap to 6-8mm bolt (we have a 4mm now) & they will make one up for us. They say it will be stronger that way.

Been using a vista cruise for quite a while. Great on several long trips. Very functional and less $ than anything else except maybe a rubber band or o-ring.

I have one on my Trophy, and I rarely use it. It's a pain to set, and it's only useful on flat roads. There ain't many flat roads here in East Tennessee!

I have the Universal Vista on my Speedmaster with Kuryakyn ISO grips. I drilled a hole in the bar clamp, then ran a stainless self tapping screw to hold the mount bar. I then sawed off the excess screw end. (I was too lazy to go get a proper tap.)
It works very well and as intended as a throttle lock. As you know, throttle locks are not true cruise controls, by any means, and require periodic throttle twisting to maintain speeds. My thumb no longer reaches the starter button with the mount bar in the way, and so I need to use an index finger or index finger knuckle to press the starter button, but that's not a big deal to me. I'll post a picture later.

I know someone has the Throttlemeister on their BA. I have seen it and like it. I can't remember who it was but they just bought one for a different model and it bolted right up, just pricey. Maybe they will speak up. Who was that guys, at teh first Ga Rally?
