So I'm sitting at a stop sign at a T intersection waiting to turn right onto a main aterial. The herd of traffic goes by and there are two stragglers, both big delivery vans a few hundred feet apart coming from my left. The road is a gentle 'S' but has a dip where the vehicles dissapear from view right before they get to the intersection I am sitting at. I let the first truck go by and decide to wait the additional 10 or 15 seconds for the second truck because it is entering the dip and they often change lanes along there getting ready for the next intersection. I've driven this intersection hundreds of times and know what can happen.

Suddenly, the car behind me starts honking. I look over my shoulder and the next thing I know this young woman, cell phone in one hand, is standing next to me hollering at me that I had plenty of time to go before that truck.

I told her to drive her vehicle and I would ride mine.

"I've noticed people around here don't drive very well," she said.

I invited her to move anywhere else in the country or the world, it was her choice but I would make my driving/riding decisions according to my judgement-not hers.

I couldn't beleive it-I've had a driver's license for 40 something years and I've never had someone get out of their car and start berating me(a few one finger salutes). She wasn't in my position and was in no position to see the truck go into the dip. Sure enough it emerged from the dip in the lane I would have been in. If I had gone for it, found a big a** van on my tail, goosed it and hit the sand in the street from construction a half block ahead that I knew was there, I wouldn't be writing this.

And the amazing thing is she did this in Texas where half the people are carrying conceled weapons. I don't-but it makes ME stop and think. People are generally friendly drivers here, they will let you into traffic from a side street and such but Austin is booming and new people are moving in like crazy.

After she has wasted all this time, I turned the corner, and she zooms by me and gets a WHOLE car length ahead at the next stop light.

Maybe I should rethink that concealed weapon thing.

Concealed weapon or not, I'm amazed a girl got out and challanged a biker to begin with! I find lots of women very intimidated by the whole "biker" stigma. Takes all types I guess! I'm just glad she didn't try to give you a nudge with her bumper

On the other hand, 30 years ago a friend of mine had engraved cards made up that read "Would you kindly move your a$$?" that he was known to hand to people who wouldn't make a right on red or froze at a four way stop. I thought it was funny as he11. But he was a great big guy not likely to be messed with.

I guess he heard "Jesus lady, what do you need, an engraved invitation?" one too many times

I still think of him and smile when someone just sits in front of me.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Thats just about when I put the side stand down, light a cigarette and ask her how long she's been living here, and how about this weather today. Beautiful day for a ride huh. What do thing about all this stuff going on in the middle east. And don't even get me started on global warming.

Yeah... you could have always thrown in "Damn, did anyone ever tell you how sexy you look when you're mad?"

I hear what your saying. Some people get pretty uptight.

This afternoon I ran up to the local pass for a nice view. There was a truck and horse trailer in the parking lot next to my bike. Pretty soon, three folks a horseback came back to the trailer. They were screwing around unsaddling, talking, getting pop etc., with their horses tied to the trailer. When I left, I just put the bike in nuetral and rolled down an incline without starting the engine. One gal said to her friends "Hey did you see that?". Then she hollered after me "Thanks Biker guy". I gave a wave over my shoulder.

I've been around enough horse wrecks that I didn't want to be the cause of one. I always slow down and give ditch riders lots of room while motoring down the byways

I believe I would have said, "Sorry missy, but I see no reason to risk my life for the convenience of someone as unimportant as you."

Relying as I always do on diplomacy and positive communications I probably would have asked her when she last had "relations" and if the reply was recently in terms of timeframe I would have suggested the local High school football team handle her "tension"

You can always just rev it up and then point to your ear like "sorry, I can't hear you..." and shrug. If you've got loud pipes you might have gotten her to mess her self too

Concealed? Nah, I think twin 50 calibers mounted to the front forks would do the trick.

Twin 50's will be an '07 option I hear. The Rocket gets the grenade launcher.

Ha ha... I defenately would have put the kickstand down and got off the bike... things change in a quick hurry when they realize that you aren't going to sit and take it. I don't deal well with authority and hate being told what to do or how to do it. You could take the license plate and report her. In minnesota, you can get in big trouble for any sign of agressive driving, including everyones favorite finger.

She looked like an MBA Six Sigma Black Belt who think they rule the world. I hope it was PMS, it would be a shame to walk around in that state normally.

I'm not a moderator, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night.
This thread seems to be heading down the wrong road. This
isn't what this site's about. Let's all try to get along.

Anyway, Welcome Q!

My 2 cents,
Uncle Charlie

Like I said, I'm not a moderator, but an active member of
this site, and if apologies are due to anyone, it's not to
the Mods, but to new member Queesha. That's all.
