While browsing past topics, I saw reference to the above for calculating main jet size. I did an advanced search but couldn't find the link. Could someone please clue me in. Currently using a 130 with Unifilter, TORs, thruxton needles. Running a bit rich but full throttle checks are difficult here, not enough fast police free roads. Stu

JUst used the program, very impressive. Great to have guys like this in our midst that can help fumblers like me.For the mods I'm playing with the main jet sizes ranged from 126 to 133 (TOR v Bub, Thruxton needle v stock)and it so happens I'm currently running a 130, so, I'm pretty happy about that. One smart arse question- how was this program developed? Was it by Dyno with EGA???

And is it based on the 790? Any changes if running the 865?

Bollen, I used values I personally have tried with dynos as well as everyone submitting info to me for the calculations. It is pretty accurate you will find. The only places where it may be a little off is with modded stock pipes (due to varied backpressures) and drilled airboxes, again due to differences in hole size and such) But still accurate enough.
This is for the 790 270º motor by the way. BUT Some folks have told me that they have used it with success for the 865 270º motors as well.
If I had addiditonal information form the regular Bonnie guys and the 865cc guys, I could add to it to fine tune even more.
But at this point in time, I think it is adequect.

Thanks Pat, I'm removing the Epcos and replaceing them with Sceptres. I'll use your program and compare with what is in the carbs now and what I install with the new pipes and send you the info. The Epcos then go on Nancys BA.

With the 360 degree firing on the Bonneville, would you expect to get more or less induction effect from exhaust scavenging than with the 270? Presumably this would affect jetting to a modest degree? Stu

I don't think that would matter that much, but the 360 motors are different in their jet sizes they seem to use, (they are smaller - usually they run in the 120 range with open boxes and pipes) but we get more hp and torque then they do.

Dinqua- Just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the effort you've put in your site and making it available to members of the ignorant masses like myself. Armed with only the shop manual, I'm sure I would have botched up my valve adjustment and carbs. Whenever I'm working on my bike, truck, etc., it would never occur to me to take pictures and spend the time you have. Thanks.

Hey Pat, what pipes should I select if I have the Triumph long off roads? I selected stock with one baffle drilled just to get a number, but would that be fairly accurate?

OK Pat, the 04 BA stock with AI removed and the 05 SM with Epcos, go to the Dyno tomorrow! That help?
Then when I put the Sceptres on the SM and the Epcos on the BA, off to the Dyno again.

As soon as my extra jets arrive this week, I will be dynoing my Bonny first with TOR's, then a second trip with Bub s. That should help the database.DEpending on the EGA results I hope I can afford to evaluare Dynojet v.Thruxton needles at a later date. Stu

Oh yea, the Dyno will do exhaust gas stuff also. 30 bucks a pop, 8 miles away! To back up results, going 25 miles to another Dyno, run again on all setups.
