Hello again.

My name is Dwight.
(the Moderators in unison respond..."Hello Dwight")

I've come here because I can't seem to stop this "lounge habit", and sitting at my keyboard whiling the hours away attempting "humor"....only sporatically successful, I might add.
(the moderators respond with..."Then welcome, Brother!")

I've tried EVERYTHING(the ritalin doesn't seem to be workin' anymore) to get me to limit my time at BA.com and try to spend at least a few more hours of the day in more lucrative pursuits, but NOTHIN' seems to be working!!!

(the Moderators respond with..."Well, don't worry then Dwight. We're here to help, buddy.")

But, I don't know anybody there. This is the only such site I ever visit. Besides, they take that rot seriously elsewhere.

This is not a democracy and it is not subject to anyone’s rules other than those who run it. Free Speech, in this case, belongs to the guy who owns the site. Obviously I enjoy political discussions as much or more than anyone but in reality we are guests in someone else’s establishment and thus are subject to the rules he, or his agents, set. That said, I will miss the spirited, and usually friendly and respectful, discourse we’ve had here. Being a politically active Iowan I can get all the politics I want. (I had lunch sitting next to Senator Brownback of Kansas today at a small political meeting.)

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

SENATOR BROWNBACK???!!!

Hey Friar John....would this obvious namedropping of Larry's here, constitute a clear violation of these new rules???

The guy Larry here boasts of rubbing elbows with...IS a politician, ya know!

No, but I heard they were talking about banning subjects such as lowering suspensions, jetting carbs, and installing freaks 'cause a bunch of biker types kept hijacking the "9/11 Conspiracy" threads with all kinds of inflammatory bike talk and such!!

Yeah Greg! I hear that they DID ban their "Bike Talk" Forum at "You're-Wrong-And-I'm-Right.com", when it suggested by some troll that Mohammed Ata rode one o' them Harley-Davidson motorsickles!!!!

i for one will miss all the political, religious & derogetory remarks. i dont join in as i couldnt give a sh1te about politics or harleys or religion or p1ssing people off (well i do like to p1ss people off ,much more fun in person)but it is interesting (sometimes). i like the feel of this place ,much like a pub(without beer whisky pull tabs puggy machines or good looking waitresses )its got a kind of atmosphere. a bunch of mates sittin at their usual table shootin the sh1t saying what they feel, right or wrong . take away that BS and you have a run of the mill website with info about our bikes and not much else.so how about an area where these outlawed topics can be talked about ,then them who dont like the bull will have a place to avoid and thems who like to stir it up have a place to rant on ....... how about it mods

This all has me wondering.

What's the little indentation on your upper lip just below your nose called? It's GOTTA have a NAME, but what is it?

And the little cartlige flappy thing just in front of the ear canal. What's THAT all about?

Elvis died on the throne 29 years ago yesterday. I was at a tasty adult beverage bar (The Flying Saucer) last night, and they had a black Elvis impersonator singing and swinging his hips in commemoration. I think I was the only one in the crowded room who saw an ironic humor when he began to sing "In The Ghetto."

Can tacos be considered sandwiches?

We now have automatic faucets, automatic toilets, automatic soap dispensers, and automatic paper towel dispensers in public restrooms. But I have yet to see all of them in one restroom at one time. Is this just to confuse us?

If we are at 'war' with the terrorists... Oh, I can't post that here. Never mind.

What? No more Speedies? Why, that would be downright un-American...hahaha...American...America...this is an America site. Get it? Ok, never mind.

Uh oh. I see da man over there with the keys and the cuffs.

Guys if I may take a second to comment on a few things...

To those of you who compare this to a pub. I totally see what you mean! And I agree, some friends should be able to sit down and hash out something. But have you ever heard of a BAR FIGHT?!?

And as far as driving away members, how many people do you think have lurked here, taken one look at some of the BS in the lounge and left? We almost lost Gina a while back, who else? It is impossible to know and to see if it benifits those lurkers more than the few who feel so utterly betrayed by not being able to talk about a few things here.

And some people suggest a separate free for all forum to talk about it. Ok, how bout you GO FIND ONE or MAKE ONE for yourself!! Feel free to post a nice invitation to your new political BS forum in the lounge. I won't delete it...

Oh we could. It just needs to be understood its like Thanksgiving with a mixed pot of relatives.

The first hint of a political/religious topic comes up and the Matriarch or Patriarch levels a stirn look of disapproval at the offending party. If that does not work a pull on ear usually does the trick.

so is this a COMMUNIST site now???? look like a few people have decided for all of us...

I find this funny coming from you Ed.

Last year at the NorEast rally you complained to me about some pictures that others had posted. I took it to the other moderators and they agreed with me. Since then we've had to deal with people intermittently getting pissed off at us through PM's because we would ask them to remove their pics or we would just delete them ourselves. Several times we've been called communists.

Now that we've decided to not allow political or religious discussion (go to a site dedicated for that, or hey, start your own) you of all people decide we are being communists.

It's not about whether we agree with what is said it's the fact that we have to read all this crap to keep it in line, we have bad days too and some days we don't want to come here and read all of the dung being spewed from someone elses keyboard. You have the option of not reading it if you don't want to, we don't. This is for our sanity not your feelings of independence. I would think you would be one of the people to give us support, but I was wrong, so live with it.

As always Ray, you're a day late and a Pound Sterling short! Yep, new ban on political/religious/controversial topics imposed, and the expected pissing and moaning and griping by some and the "hoorahs" by other! And Viscount Adey has let his title go to his head now and is mad at me for calling him a socialist, and so won't give me a kiss now!!! So's I'm pouting until he calms down!

So long as we still have open policy on talking about

Arsenal, Soccer, Formula 1, Soccer, KISS, Soccer, English Premier League (sorry Adey, the Premiership) Did i mention Arsenal.

I guess occasionally we could talk about bikes. I rarely get involved in the political threads, though i must say it is often fun to read them and see the fireworks going off. But if they are banned thats OK with me. Wont stop me comming here on a daily basis and talking about......................ARSENAL.

Season starts this saturday everyone. Argh bliss. Life can get back to normal

Sorry, didnt mean the hijack this thread. Hey maybe we should have a kill the highjackers force/team/group. Oh bugger, ive gone political.

Heeeyyyyyy, HERE'S an idea:

Add yet ANOTHER forum and label it 'Politics, etc.'

People could then enter at their own risk and peril, and if something offensive gets posted that starts a fight or name calling, it could get even further filtered/deleted by a moderator. This would also allow such discussions to continue (for those who like to read and/or engage in these topics), provide a place to move posts not deemed 'suitable' in the Lounge.

I'm of the mind that if a topic bores, disturbs, or incites me, then I just tune it out and go somewhere else, but I can understand (even if I don't agree with) those who don't want to even see the more political type posts but seemingly can't refrain from opening them and being offended.

Does this compromise make any sense to anyone else, or am I just speaking into an icebox here?

JB,like I suggested before, GO MAKE another forum. Invite people, even post a link! Go right ahead! But WE don't want to have anything to do with it, neither does Robert. It was not his original intent and so be it. I also agree with just ignoring stuff that might bug you, but the mods don't have that luxury...

John,

Will you not have to read even closer now, for fear of someone slipping in a political bolo punch? So if I were to post on the new airport checks and maybe I object to profiling, would that be political? If I'm discriminated against because I'm a biker, is that political?

Again, I think of Orwell: Not having a political opinion is a political opinion.

Are these questions political and raising ire? Once you grease the pole, you can't get back up it.

BTW, I'm not saying you're wrong and I don't envy you having to read all the posts, but I do think past suggestions about having a Political Posts area isn't bad, but it doesn't alleviate your having to read posts... But poeple who enter, enter at their own risk-- kind of like the bars I used to go to.
