My dealer had some LeatherLyke hard bags ordered for a Harley and was willing to make a deal. The mounting holes are the same-270mm on center so I put them on my America. All the factory hardware worked and they were removeable but they felt floppy so I hard mounted them with bolts against an 1/8" alumnium bar. Then I had stainless steel supports made that mount on the bolts of my luggage rack and are riveted to the bags. The bags are reasonably priced, clean looking and lock. LeatherLyke makes bags for the big Triumph triple but not the America. The Harley bags worked fine and they are rugged. I rubbed against a high curb and the scratches sanded right out. I put ArmorAll on them and they aren't noticeable. http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/photopost/data/500/2425Triumph_America_sideview_bags-thumb.jpghttp://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/photopost/data/500/2425Triumph_America_rearview_brackets-thumb.jpg

Do you have any idea which model Harley they were meant for?

I really like the looks of your bags. It seems though that a passenger would have some problem getting their feet on the rear pegs?????

I really like those bags also. The black goes well with your maroon paint. Good job!

Red, which LL part number are your LL bags? This trick should work on a Speedmaster, too, shouldn't it?
Thanks

The Bags look great. Could you provide more information so I can identify them and what do they cost?

I saw a pair of those on a random bike this weekend when I was getting inspected. They looked real nice!

I have been waiting for LeatherLyke to make these for the America and Speedmaster and still hope they do, especially after these great pictures. I prefer not to have to adapt and 'make do' for them to fit good. If several of us would give them a call, maybe they will pick up the pace and 'get her done' for our bikes.

Check out LeatherLyke website for their NEW trunk luggage for bikes!! www.hoese.com They look pretty good and I will be ordering one today. Anyone find out what Part# it was for the bags that went on the Triumph in this thread?? I am thinking of going by the Harley dealer and measuring the mounting holes myself until I find the right one!

Phil, those bags look great on your bike. My buddy has them on his Rocket and they're very functional.

On the America it looks like a rear passenger wouldn't be able to get to the pegs. Would a smaller size fit? Which one is on the bike?

It is possible to mount a peg in the front bolt hole.

Sorry, I looked in the garage but I must have thrown away the paper work. After having them for several months I am impressed how rugged they are. When I did my famous "Brainless Dismount" without putting the kick stand down at the air machine, the bags saved my bacon and took the brunt of the weight of the bike against the curb. The scratches were so minute, they are not visible after light polishing.

No, as I said my Triumph dealer almost gave them to me-how they got them I don't know. They did have some paper work with them but it's long since gone. The mouting holes are 270mm Center to center so the LL people should be able to help but they weren't eager to volunter information to me. "They design bags for each bike and assume no liability when bags are installed on other bikes." Here is a good link about them being used on a Valkerie http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2004/10/27/leatherlykeHardbagInstallation.htmlThe Rocket sold 2000 units last year and how many did the BA and BS sell? I think they are missing a huge market. I even rode over to the little town their factory is in but no one knew where their factory was! They are just NW of San Antonio.

The FXDWG (Wide Glide)has the same mounting hole distance as our bikes. Gee, that will narrow it down. How do they fit on the backside against the bike? I think 'floppy' might be sort of normal with them.....the pad on bag is supposed to rest against the shock and the other end is free. My husband's bags move some, but not when he is riding the bike. The bags in the picture look like the mid-size Cruiser bags. Wonder what the restocking fee is at LL!!?

I've loved LeatherLyke bags for a several years. Let us know which bags you got, so we'll be sure to get those monsters like yours. There has to be something on the bags that you can reference. Even my tiny cheap Chinese bags had a part number inside.
Question: Is the LeatherLyke label removeable?

My husband's LL bags still had a piece of white sticker on the back of his bags (on the outside) with a number on it. This is the part number for his style bags. They have been on his bike for a year. Maybe those bags in this thread still have that on them?

Found the parts list. The bags on my bike are for Dyna Glide model 214, S214, 224, S224 1991 to present.
After reading the problems the Valkerie owner had, I shaped a 2" wide peice of alumnium so it fit inside the bags where the mounts are. Then I drilled holes so it would fit over the mounts. This gives the bags rigidity and should stop the movement that lead to that guys problem.

I just got my medium size cruiser case from LeatherLyke. www.hoese.com It's very proportional to the size of the bike and looks good. It mounts to backrest or rack, whichever you prefer. I left enough space between the bag and the backrest to be able to bungee or strap anything else I might need to carry on the seat. We put mine on the rack. It comes with 2 bars and you place them on the underside of the rack and drill 4 holes through the bottom of the case. We did change the bolts they sent though. The directions with it say that if you use it for a 'cooler' (yes, beer for those who indulge!), to be sure to wipe it dry and leave the lid open to air dry. It's close-cell foam which isn't supposed to absorb water. Hey, it locks, too. Very, very happy with the bag.
