Although a few people may disagree, I think that using a hole saw to put a 2 inch hole in the middle of the bottom of the airbox, and matching it with a hole in the middle of a K&N filter, gives the over pressure of a backfire somewhere to go besides destroying the airbox. In addition to giving you a LOT more air to your carbs when not refluxing back through the filter.

Execellenbt point. That may be the key reason I shall go ahead and cut that hole in the bottom of the box. Might save me from one of those cold morning hard start K-bangs.
