Okay, people. Yes we know there are similarities between some of these parts and Brent's. But this is not the place. Please express your concerns and feedback directly do the vendor.

Why exactly should we allow this guy to push his copies here? Brent has been good to all of us. Is this the way we look out for one of our own?

"One of our own"? I'm sorry, I've given Brent a lot of money and will continue to do so, but this is not BrentAmerica.com. Officially, the moderators need to remain objective. I encourage Brent to continue to represent his products as professionally as possible and I encourage John to contribute a portion of his profits to the running of this site as the other vendors do. Beyond that the founder and OWNER of this site has not set forth any guidelines. I'm not even so sure he approves of the Vendor's forum to begin with. It's something the moderators set up on (our) own.

To quote Brent's mother's post that I felt I needed to delete, "Let the customers decide."

Gee, and I thought competition was good, driving each to one up the other.

But what you don't appreciate, most of the accessories sites are on the other side of the Atlantic. Yes, I've ordered stuff of Brent, and some of it I'm still waiting for. I've only ordered small stuff and so far haven't been charged customs and excise before I can pick it up....
Jonnybiscuit seems a nice enough bloke and being able to order stuff I don't have to give more to the Exchequer...seems good to me.
As for the designs being the same.... where's the registration of the trademark....? It's a standard bikie design....I can go to the HD dealer and see stuff with it on...

Just my opinion. I saw the post that was deleted - didn't realise that it was Brent's mum and dad - and was slightly annoyed by it. Was gonna reply then but then the thread got locked... What happened to free trade..?

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Sounds almost like "well, you didn't lock up your valuables good enough, he was able to steal them, so tough luck". What if it was you on the receiving end? Would you feel the same? Nothing wrong with free trade and honest competition and there is everything wrong with thievery.

From what I understand, Brent has been on this site since day one, has supported this site with money out of his pocket, ponies up the money for rally T-shirts, AND this business is his sole income.

Is jacky-cracker's doing this on the side or is this his sole income? I'm betting it's a side so he is just making extra money. Nothing wrong with that unless you are stealing from someone. So tell me, is this free trade or outright theft:

Brent

jonnybiscuit

Brent

jonnybiscuit

As I saw posted before it got deleted, let the customer decide. I will do just that and I most certainly will NOT be dealing with a thief...

I don't want to be like some "other brand bike" owners, I would like options.
Different minds make different parts. Apparently that isn't always the case.
One thing is for sure with me. I will always check Brent out first for what I need.
We all know when Brents being ripped off.

There is nothing wrong with competition in the market place, but this guy is obviously stealing Brent's designs. I never even suggested this was BrentAmerica.com. I simply suggested that Brent is a part of this forum just like the rest of us that have been around. He rides. He rides with us. He contributes more than just to hawk his wares. He sponsors our Rallys. He helps support this site. I'm kind of ashamed that this forum isn't being more supportive. The answer is simple. Tell the Biscuit that he can advertise his wares here, but he has to lose the stolen designs first. The rest of his stuff looks pretty good.

With 38 years in the manufacturing business, we have great admiration & respect for competitors original designs. Competition fuels both our economy & imagination. All of us as consumers reap the benefits of fair trade. I sincerely am glad customers have a choice with whom to do business.

Alot of product available is generic in design & intended funtion. Scallops, flutes, triangles. You can't differentiate one supplier from another. However, many times, we have seen a competitors' original product & thought, "wow, why didn't we think of that!" For instance, Fast Eddie came up with the great idea of inserting a Union Jack decal on the brake reservoir cover. Brilliant and cost effective. Will we copy his original idea? Legally, nothing is stopping us from doing it. It's out there in the public arena. We could even make a few extra bucks. It's definitley alot easier to copy than create.

Gina, you wrote that our Hammerhead design was available in any HD shop. Respectfully, I believe you are mistaken. The Maltese Cross, of which you are referring, is in the shape of a cross, with 4 legs. The Hammerhead has 3. It was our intention to offer Triumph riders a unique & original design and name.

This design is the center of all this mess. Not only did a competitor choose the easy way & copy our original design, he didn't even have the imagination to rename it. That's what offends us.

Will we start manufacturing Fast Eddie's reservoir cover design? We have never, nor will we ever, take a competitors' original idea & design and blatantly copy it. We hope that we have instilled these values in our son.

Karen & Roger Smith

I for one have never had cause or reason to doubt your son's work ethic. Although, I have to admit, I never thought I'd be addressing a parent on this forum

Make no mistakes Roundslide. Brents folks fabricate the goodies. Jessica makes sure we get our orders on time and Brent well he uh... well he.... Ok I admit it I'm not sure what he does, but his family is great!

Karen and Roger, just in case you needed any convincing, your son and his wife are top notch. Finally got a chance to met them at the Ga. rally and gotta say the "Brent makers" did a good job. I will continue to purchase from Newspeedmaster because of the top quality off the products and more importantly, the top quality of the people that own the business.... thanks and ride safe... Well said Gordon,

I feel you hit the nail on the head and I hope one day rolling thru Texas or better yet at the next rally I can have the pleasure of meeting Brent in person.

To the Smith's,
I think you folk do a great job for the lack of a better term a "Mom and Pop" operation. I have dealt with factories who spout quick delivery only to be put on hold for sometimes months at a time to get my needed wares. Continue to do the great job you have and perhaps "Copyrighting" may be the answer to these knock-off guys.

Quite frankly, there are a lot of good points out there. Competition is good. Free enterprise is good. Ripping someone else off? Not so good. There's nothing wrong with taking a good idea and making it better, heck, the Japanese have that down to an art form and have been extrememly successful. This isn't any better, it's just a blatant rip off. Brent is my boy, I will support him. We don't all have to get worked up over this, just do what matters. Vote with your wallet. That's what I'm going to do. Love ya Brent.

You can't get stuff in Australia like that available on Brent's site. I've ordered many different bits and p;ieces, for firstly my T'bird and more recently '06 Speedmaster.

I have received goods from other companies in much quicker time, but freight from the US to OZ is very unpredictable at best.

What I can say is that the quality of the goods I have received from Brent is of the highest quality.

As has been quoted, "let the buyer decide (sic)". Well I have been a return customer 4 or 5 times.

Wonder if Brent wants an Australian distributor?
