Of course I am sure everyone understands the implications as you stated them Cody. From my standpoint it seems that far too many on the left do not take the terrorist threat "seriously enough"
It seems some on the really extreme left are willing to do nothing at all just sit in the sun and bury our heads in the sand as though the problem will fix itself. Some do not seem to understand that the guys who are trying to blow up ten airplanes inbound to the US are not going to listen to reason. Their ideology is completely fascist and is beyond negotiating.
The UK does have a problem with a significant troubling populace of Islamic persons. Of that indigenous grouping some are full scale hostiles and should be deported to a nice place in the middle east preferably by being kicked out of an airplane from a middling altitude of say 8000 feet so the resultant impact incurs troubling injury.
France also has this problem and so do we to a somewhat lesser degree.
All I think is needed is that the seriousmess of the threat be treated with a WW3 mentality by all of US so that unity will breed strength of purpose regardless of political affiliation.
These bad guys within the greater islamic populace are the enemy and the thing is the greater majority of Islam is not doing much to police their own kind to behave in the manner that a true religion of peace would and should behave.
Most of the problems with Islam today are not the fault of the Western world. Its their problem and they show little interest in taking responsibility for it.
God help us (sorry Dwight) should a terrorrist attack occur that makes 9/11 look like a walk in the park.
Should that occur in these US or Britain than the war that some of us have been referring to as WW3 will be exactly that with no misunderstandings by anyone.
All bets will be off at that point.
We seem to be fighting a holding pattern against these people side by side with Israel. Israel has basically just completed a small campaign whereby they have at least protected their citizenry from an increasingly hostile terrorist group Hezbollah. Unfortunately they were not allowed to finish the job. As a result the modus operandi will occur again at a later date.
It does look like this fight is gonna last for a very long time.
In the meantime we need a commitment from all our politicians to go forward with any and all needs that will help us uncover any plots regardless of whether they may involve invasions of privacy or civil liberties.
After all who cares if Uncle is looking over ones shoulder if one has nothing to hide?
Nothing we have done since 9/11 has made them hate us any more or less. Iraq is a country free of a dictator who easily rivaled Hitler. It is a nation embroiled in religious zealotry at this point all for the purpose of seeing who has power Sunni or Shiite. At the same time Al Qaeda is there stirring the pot. I view it as necessary to fight these people on ground of our choosing. Taking the fight to them to busy up their resources and personnel is a good thing.
