I have to report that my (current) time with the speedmaster is coming to an end a week today.
It was decided that we need the space in the garage more than me need two bike so either the Sprint RS or the Speedmaster has to go.
Now both are fine bikes but I doubt I could live without my fix of speed and the serious acceleration the Sprint gives me.
So off the the gargae I go, the Triumph dealer near me is bolted onto a Honda dealer as well, so I thought hmmm I'll have a look in the Honda shop too, in the interests of fairness you understand.
The CB1300 and its huge ammounts of torque really grabbed me and its at a decent price too when you consider the spec of the bolt on components.
But
Upstairs in the Triumph shop the RAT pack leader and saleman say hey Don what do you want a Honda for its way to bland a bike for you. Jump up onto this Sprint ST and then turns to Nicki(my wife) and says you jump up there as well, its not as much of a seat step as you think.
And lo she loves the seat and the position, so after a copuple of days firing emails and pm's to guys I know with both bikes (thanks Adey) I have just done the deal to swap both my bikes for the Sprint ST. I pick it up on Friday
ya dancer!!!!!!
I have been asked to return the speedy to its original state less a few triumph bolt ons, as a result I will be selling
A set of thunderbike pipes (we all know how good they are) A set of home made (but none the worse for that) stainless steel pannier supports. An America front and pillion seat (so new I'm gutted)
and
The AI removal kit???? why do they want the AI back on???
Drop me a pm if your interested in any of the above.
If no-one here want the stuff I'll bung it on ebay
Cheers all
Don

Shame to see you get rid of the crusiers, but at least your keeping it in the family with the ST.
Which i happen to think is one very nice bike.
I would be interested in the AI kit. How much and any idea how much to ship. Whats in the kit anyway.

Do you need any of the AI parts, they're still sitting on the floor of my garage.

The AI kit is a couple of bolts.....
ok bolts plus copper washers and a couple of blind grommets to block up a couple of tubes.
Thanks I have all the parts I removed, going to be fun re-crimping the carbon tubes though.

I guess i read that wrong. I was thinking you were getting rid of the stuff, not putting it back on the bike.
I'll get me coat.

Hey Grip Glad you decided on the ST over the Honda. Helluva lot of bike for the money but with the Triumph ... you know it makes sense! I doubt you'll be disappointed. Mine makes me go when I open it up Be good mate.

Kids!
What's the matter with kids today?!
Kids!
They'll regret the day their CRUISERS went away!
When they're older they'll HEED...
there's MORE to life than just SPEED!
And, why can't they be like we were...
happy to CRUISE away?!
What's the matter with kids TO-DAY???
Cheers,
Dwight

No probs with brakes so far. I told you via PM it was a warm bike, not sure if that's the thing you might be refering to Get a hugger as soon as you can. Also Ray suggested something which was also mentioned to me at a recent RAT ride. Triumph (or at least the dealers) do a front mudguard extension - it's not much but keeps the crap out of the front end. Only about £15 (a lot for what it is but not for what it does!).

Dwight, I just had a vision of Paul Linde singing that tune. Thanks a lot! I'll just have to think of a young Ann Margaret to cleanse my mind. Mike Sr.

YEAH Mike!!!!! ANN MARGARET! Back in the day, She of the TRIUMPH RIDING variety.(ever seen that picture of her astride that[I think] mid-60s T100???) NIIIIICE!!!!
However...another babe in that movie, Janet Leigh, was the one who, even as a kid, always knocked my socks off for some reason.(always DID like the "older ones", I guess)
Cheers,
Dwight

All the best Grip, out of all the speedier bikes on the market the ST is the one I would of picked, a hugger is essential and the front mudguard extension is expensive but saves a lot crud hitting that front emd... Just remember it is a points collector....

Adey....yep it might be thats what the heat stuff I have been reading about is. Do you know there is a fix? Triumph are fitting a set of heat shields to the inside of the plastics. It seamingly works, but hey lets face it up where I live we only get a few dyas of real heat a year. Well except this year its been superb all summer. Dwight....yea man I'm a big kid I need my speed more than my heals like the grind on the road. birchr....Its not that much more powerful than my current RS but it sure looks a lot faster and pretter, The hugger will be fitted if the shop has one in stock if not it'll be at the first service (booked for the next week), also getting the aero screen fitted too. I'll do the fender extender myself as I have captive nuts at work that we use for inside prosthetic sockets, they look much neater than nylock nuts do.

Some pics of my speedy showing the bits that are being sold off. I'll post in the classified forum giving prices etc. So its the pipes, seats, AI kit, Saddle bag supports and the workshop stand that are going.
