If you were really set on using resistors you'd need to spend more than 6 cents on em - the amount of power disapation you're talking about'd involve probably 2 x 20Watt ceramic resistors to replace each light. Then you'd have to mount em someplace where they wouldn't melt anything and wouldn't smash themselves from the vibration.
Any half-decent auto shop'll have LED flashers... there's a big Auto Barn across the road from Brisbane Triumph out at Slack's Creek> Just make sure you get one with the matching pin layout for our bikes, as there's several layouts for 3 pin flashers.
