I removed mine a couple of weeks ago due to the left one lifting from not being properly aligned. They both came off really easy, just pealed right off, and neither left any residue on the tank. I then followed up with some polish and wax.
I personally want to put them back on, but haven't been able to find a source for the double sided adhesive/tape that is used. Auto body supply stores sell something similar, but it is only 2 inch wide.
