I worked at FedEx for several years and we delivered the wine of the month club selections. The founder of FedEx was an ex military pilot who got in serious trouble for drunk driving so I don't think drink is taboo for them but with the chicken sh!t management in place these days who knows. ATF & state laws apply but in person to person shipments how are any of them going to know?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Just varies. It's also getting a bit too popular...

Just started selling Magners in my local £2.50 a pint. Anyway for me a good pint of "The cream of Manchester" and if thats not up to scratch "Beamish" and if all else fails Guiness... Not that I do a lot of drinking

on the subject of what we like to drink.. i used to drink tetleys impereal, used to wake up thinking 'where am i'. now i mostly drink carling, its easy to drink and not too gas'y. if im feeling brave i like newcastle brown!! good old fighting beer!!!. but the best stuff ive ever drank is a real ale called 'sneck lifter', you get drunk on 3 pints it starts off by making your neck stiff, then you think, well this is ok, im not even drunk... until you try to stand up and realise that your legs dont work anymore!, if you want to try this amazing beer its sold in a pub called the Sun Inn, in the lake district(pooly bridge ulswater uk)

(Look don't tell anyone I said this but I agree that XXXX is p155. But as a Queenslander it's my birthright. Whatsa bloke sposed to do?)

Pat,

Surely you must be mistaking a 'fridge in your house for the one out in my garage. That is where the truly good brew lies.

And now with my four new front door tappers on there, I have a feeling they will not last as long as they used to. Mmmmm! BEER!!!!

So, I dont know much about beer, except I know what I like. Is Guiness a porter or an ale?

Soren, Guinness is a porter style although it's referred to as a stout. It's all good though. A complete explanation can be found HERE

Found this little ditti in my notes file on the computer. My notes actually mean JOKES.

At the World Brewing convention held in the States,
the CEO's of various brewing organizations retired to
the bar at the end of the day's conference sessions.

Bruce, CEO of Fosters, shouted to the barman: "In
'Strylya we make the best bloody beer in the whole
world, so be good enough to pour me a Bloody Fosters, mate."

Bob, CEO of Budweiser, calls out next: "Here in the
States we brew the finest beers in the world, and I
make the King of them all, so gimme a Bud."

Hans, CEO of Becks, steps up next: "In Germany ve
invented das bier, verdamt. Giff me ein Becks, ja
das ist der real Koenig of biers, danke."

Paddy, CEO of Guinness, steps forward: "Barman, would
you giveme a diet coke with ice and lemon. Tanks."

The others stare at him in stunned silence, amazement and
disbelief written all over their faces.
Eventually Bruce asks: "Are you not going to have a Guinness,
Pat?"

Paddy looks at all the other CEOs with disdain and replies:

"Well, if you fookin' pansies aren't drinking, then neither am I!"

In Portland, we have a lot of Micro Brewery’s around. Most make great porters, ales and bitters There is one company, McMenamins, that has bought out a couple of old theaters and put in tables and couches. For a couple bucks you can see a 3-month-old movie, drink good beer (they make their own) and eat pizza. Went to England last year, and at each small town went to a local pub and asked to have their local favorite beer. They were surprised and happy that I didn't want a bud, since I was from the USA. I was never disappointed in whatever beer I got and had great conversations about the local beer. While I don't usually go in for Budweiser, my brother loves the stuff and I don't mind a cold one on a really hot day. I figure my taste in beer was skewed when I got tastes from my aunt, who loved Olympia beer, when I was a kid and I thought it tasted sour. I kept on trying it, but only liked beer when I got a hold of a dark beer. Don't remember the brand, but the sharp taste was gone, and it seemed really smooth in comparison.

Similar to DannyD above I live in Lafayette, Colorado (just east of Boulder) and in the Front Range corridor we have the following breweries (in no particular order), which all make great beers:

Wynkoop - Breckenridge - Boulder Beer - Twisted Pine - Mountain Sun - Avery - Left Hand - Fort Collins - New Belgium - Odell - Phantom Canyon

It's an embarrasment of riches!!

p.s. Coors doesn't count

Now if we're talking Belgian Beer...if ever you're in Ostend THIS is THE place to go ! Over 400 beers each served in their branded glass. If they ain't got the glass - you don't pay !

One of their beers a 'Quack', is like a minature 'yard of ale', served in a wooden holder. you have to put your shoe behind the bar when you order one - to stop you running off with the holder !

And if you have too much - they do bed and breakfast but getting up the stairs to your room can be a problem !

Just around the corner is what we call the chicken and bread cafe. Don't know the real name but all they serve is chicken and bread (and beer!). I asked if I could see the menu and the bartender said "chicken and bread or bread and chicken that's all we do ! a half a quarter or a whole one"

Be careful when you eat the chicken (no cutlery) because your hands get very greasy and your glass tends to slip through your hand.

There's a place in Longbeach Ca that has 186 different draught beers, can't think of the name at the moment.

If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Ah another beer thread, never gets old! Now The beer I drink depends on what I'm eating. For example if I'm having pizza got to have a Lager. Now with chicken or pasta dishes give me a pilsner. If steak is on my plate, or most beef dishes, I've got to have an Ale. As far as brands I'm a Bass Ale man. I like most German Lagers( oh hell just about any German brew!)I also like Dos Equis. Mainly because of it's German style and taste(sinse the beer is a German recipe and was founded by a German emigrant in Mexico)

Just had some Bass PAle Ale tonight. I guess it is different than regular Bass, but honestly I would have to have one of each to tell... Good all the same!

I grew up on Genessee 12 Horse Ale in Western New York and sad to say they only make it at X-mas. When I was there last year looking for it.But we all have our own tastes. They all are good It's just what your taste buds liked first.

Well my friend's wife picked it up and it was the only stuff there Not bad really. One thing I like about bass is it is consistant, on tap, bottle, always tasty.

Great Lakes Dortmunder Ale (Brewed in Cleveland, OH). Among my new favorite locally (if ya live in Cleveland) brewed adult malted beverages.

Diamond Bear here in LIT has some sweet brews as well.

Thank you President Jimmy Carter.

Bought a box of some El Salvador gear called Cantina on the weekend. Cat's p1ss !! Time to head back to the mother country I think. A can or two of Caffreys is in order.

Kirin Ichiban is a good beer, but my favorite is one I haven't seen around here, Moose Drool from Missoula, Montana. Guinness is my favorite dark brew. Reading this thread has made me want to try many brews I haven't yet tasted....I sense a quest coming on...

Never met too many brews I didn't like at least somewhat. Some quite a bit. No 'light' beers however, as evidenced by my profile. Tried it for 10 years and still gained 30 lbs. Current favorites include New Glarus Sotted Cow, Capital City Wisconsin Ale, Anchor Steam, Sam Adams, Dortmunder and even the old standby Budweiser. Hmmm, getting thirsty.
