In Portland, we have a lot of Micro Brewery’s around. Most make great porters, ales and bitters There is one company, McMenamins, that has bought out a couple of old theaters and put in tables and couches. For a couple bucks you can see a 3-month-old movie, drink good beer (they make their own) and eat pizza. Went to England last year, and at each small town went to a local pub and asked to have their local favorite beer. They were surprised and happy that I didn't want a bud, since I was from the USA. I was never disappointed in whatever beer I got and had great conversations about the local beer. While I don't usually go in for Budweiser, my brother loves the stuff and I don't mind a cold one on a really hot day. I figure my taste in beer was skewed when I got tastes from my aunt, who loved Olympia beer, when I was a kid and I thought it tasted sour. I kept on trying it, but only liked beer when I got a hold of a dark beer. Don't remember the brand, but the sharp taste was gone, and it seemed really smooth in comparison.
