DO NOT!!! That is a federal offense and is stricty enforced.
The ATF will be all over you very quickly.
Use UPS. They are the only ones that will "let you get away with it", just label the contents as "yeast samples". This is the way we ship brews around the country and to homebrew contests. The Sam Adams Homebrew contest they are having now also tells you in the rules to only use UPS, do not use FedEx either.
I am not sure why the laws are like that, probably cause the USPS is run by the gubermint and UPS is private. FedEx just refuses and won't do it on principles, I beleive the big wigs at FedEx are all Mormons too, which would explain their stance on this issue.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.
