Well, in a way it was. Alonso DNFed when his wheelnut on the right rear came loose. I haven't heard though if that was a straight mechanical failure, or a pit crew error.



There was an quick interview with Alonso during the race when he said it was a drive shaft that failed. (Whether he was just being diplomatic or not?)
