Ok Guy’s & Gal’s,

The Cheese Steak god’s are calling us. If you’re a guy, a Philly Cheese Steak will give you a woodie. If you’re a gal it’ll get you wet. You haven’t lived until you’ve had one. We will be doing the next run on Sunday, Aug 27th. Hopefully you can make it….

Gene

I did a post on another thread but figured I throw it on this thread also. Even if you can’t hook up with us for the actual ride, you are welcome to meet up with us at the restaurant and join us for some really good food, drink and also meet a few more members of our site. Whether you're north, east, south or west you are welcome to join us. We are headed to the Liberty Steaks & Hoagies, 1937 MacDade Blvd, Woodlyn, PA 19094 for those who wish to meet up with us.

Being an old North Philly boy I know the value of a good cheese steak. I've driven over a hundred miles just to satisfy the craving. Might have to join ya. John

Cool. I hope you do. Liberty is just south of Philly so we don't ride into town. Although I've hit a couple of the sandwich shops in Philly, nothing has come close to the Liberty.....mmmmmmmmmcheese steaks

Since we will probably do the long route (Rt 50 cross the bay bridge and up 301 into Delaware) on the way up, we will probably meet at 9:00 and roll by 9:30 since it’ll take us about 3 and a half hours that way. We should get up there around 12:30ish. It’ll give us time to eat and still hit the Union on the way back…..

Ask a hundred guys who has the best cheesesteak in Philly and you will get 100 different answers. I have not tried Liberty, it's not far from me - I'll see if I can join you. There is a great place not far from Manayunk Triumph called the Henry James saloon on Jamestown St. Very good steak, no gristle, lots of heat from the italian roased hot peppers.

A couple of people have asked me about the place we stop at on the way back from the “Cheese Steak Run”. Jethro666 turned me on to the place. Pretty cool place to stop. Even if you don't make the "Run" with us, you should try to stop by the Union.

Here is the link if you’re interested in stopping by some day: http://www.unionhotel-restaurant.com/

Hey Fred, Your Cheese Steak & Beer Run sounds like a blast. I am a new member here and would love to meet some riders. Although I live in New Jersey and probably couldnt make the run with you I could meet you guys out there. Just thinking about those cheese steaks is making me hungry.

MEETING TIME AND PLACE:

We will meet up at Clinton Cycles at 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 27th and roll by 10:30. Please make sure you fill up before you get to Clinton Cycles so the group doesn’t have to stop once we get rolling. Just a reminder, the Liberty does not take credit cards so bring cash. If the weather turns sucky, we will push the ride back one week to Sunday, September 3rd. For those who want to meet us at the Liberty, the group should arrive there around 1:30ish.

It looks like the “Cheese Steak Gods” are looking out for us. I just checked the long range forecast and they are calling for mid 80’s and a few clouds both here and @ the Liberty.

Gene,
You have any idea what time you guys will hit the bay bridge ? If not I'll be up there at 10:45. I'm about 10 min from the bridge so if you are going this way I will hangout and wait.

Darryl,

It usually takes about 45 min to hit the bridge from Clinton Cycles. We should get there between 11:00 & 11:15. Once we get through the tollbooth we usually stop for a few minuets on the side of the road before crossing the bridge so the “smokers” can have a quick one. If you want to hookup with us there try to get there between 10:45 & 11:00....

I have to agree with Danny (Mil_Mech), it's been far too long since I had a good cheese steak! Would you mind if I join in? I don't know anybody yet personnally (other then some Q&A on the site), however, this sounds like a blast. I live in the Western 'burbs of Philly (i.e. an hour outside) and wouldn't be able to make the "run" but would love to meet you there.

Also, I know I'm probably being over sensitive, but figure I should ask. I have two good friends who ride non-Triumphs (one HD, one Yamaha). We tend to do a lot of the weekend excursions together. Would they be welcomed too or am I over-extending myself? Please advise.

Steve,

I appreciate you asking, but everyone’s welcome. I don’t care who comes or what they ride. The point is they ride and that’s what it’s all about (the ride, good friends, food and drink). Hey if it gets too crowded, we will take it to the parking lot. I have no idea who all is coming but I think this will be a banner ride.

Looking forwad to seeing everyone Sunday....

We will stop for a few minuets on the roadside after the tollbooth while we wait for everyone to get through so you can jump in there.

******WEATHER UPDATE******

I just checked the weather reports for tomorrows ride. They are now calling for isolated thunderstorms in the morning, cloudy in the afternoon with another chance of rain late in the day or early evening. Since it’s still supposed to be very warm tomorrow if we do run into some rain oh well, you won’t melt. The ride is still on so we will see you in the AM.

I guess I’ll just have to wear my “chucks” again. They dry a lot quicker then boots after they get rained on…

Well I just got back from another successful “Cheese Steak & Beer Run”. There were 9 of us who answered the call of the cheese steak this time. Eight of us (me, Jeff, Big Steve, Mehai, Kasey, Frank, Kenny & Steve) met up at Clinton Cycles for the morning meeting. We hooked up with Darryl at the Bay Bridge. All I can say is the cheese steak gods were looking out for us again. On our way up Rt. 301 just before Delaware, we blew through a speed trap at 70+ and they didn’t mess with us. Also the weather cooperated. Seems like whatever area we went through, the rain had already come and gone. As usual, the food and the company were great. On the way back we stopped by the Union and had a quick one before everyone split off and went their own way. The only problem we had with any of the bikes was Steve’s bike started to overheat when we got hung up in a little traffic because his fan didn’t come on. We let his bike cool down for a few and off we rode. There were several people taking some photos so there should be some posts soon. It was nice to meet another member (Darryl) from this site. All I can say is if you couldn’t make this one you might want to try to catch the next.
