I used a dremel like others to surface (I actually cut linear grooves all around- went through a few bits doing it) the tapered parts. I used JB Weld rather than loctite and tighted the 1/4" allen bolt on the end.
I can stand on them all day and they don't budge. Just make sure you like the angle before using the JB Weld.
