I have seen no law passed by any state that prohibits anyone from wearing a lid.

It's illegal in Manilla. Gangsters and terrorists were using them to hide their identity.

The (other) AMA is pro helmet as are the insurance companies. (AAA's main income is from insurance) On the part of the insurance companies, it is strictly business. Across the board, passing a helmet law results in fewer people riding fewer miles, depriving the average idiot cager of expensive targets. On the part of the (other) AMA, I suspect it is also a matter of greed. If an idiot cager runs down a biker, it takes a lot of work and expense to paste him back together and the cost may well be beyond what the cagers insurance will pay. Since everyone knows that anyone who even walks near a motorcycle is a wandering nomad who never worked a day in his life, the med industry would have to eat the difference. Besides, they can make a lot more cash if the same amount of time is spent patching up several less severe injuries sustained in cage crashes.
