FWIW, the 3/4 helmet pictured appears to be identical in every way to my wife's Bell, which cost around $60 new. As you likely know, it isn't unusual for majors to produce no brand items. Years ago, Michelin was the sole supplier of Sears branded tires. Just a random observation...

I have a Shoei St. Cruz half helmet. Aside from the usual noise issue, in my opinion it does a poor job of being in the wind. That large lower surface area is kind of like a mini sail on my noggin. I am in the process of fitting some aircraft soundproofing foam and a pair of Bose earmuff leathers into my helmet straps to see if I can lower the noise levels a bit.

When it comes to ventilation, I wonder why motorcycle helmets don't have open areas like bicycle helmets do? One would think they could still be safe with slots cut in them.
