Clearly its time for a note of "reality" here...
So lets ask ourselves this question. What or who in your average MC club regardless of location or name would go so far as to beat another human being near to do death or commit murder based on the simple perception of threat via a cloth patch on a leather vest? Anwser...- a 1 percenter.
That being said I have this to say. You can choose to believe it or not as you see fit.
The vast majority of M/C probably in truth 99% have lots of better things to do other than worry about what someone is wearing whether it be a lone wolf patch picked up on ebay or a PGR backpatch. Those 99% understand what "respect" is and based on that do not present a problem.
Now ...on the other hand the 1% have done nothing to earn anyones respect. They do not want your respect they simply want to intimidate you and they will ACCEPT your fear. So its not legitimate to use the term respect in the same breath when describing a 1% M/C club. No 1%er has ever done anything that warrants my respect. They know that so instead they are really perfectly willing to accept FEAR via intimidation. That my friends is no close relative to respect.
I will stand with anyone anywhere in any flag line at any PGR event 1%er or otherwise as long as they are all there for the same reason I am. to honor those who have given the last full measure.
So understand this and let there be no misunderstandings.
If you are a 1%er and you really live the life than have the cojones to say so and admit you dont want my respect but indeed want my fear in its stead. You would not get my respect so you must be satisfied with my compliance cause thats all your gonna get. if you choose to live a life centered on intimidation and fear than respect is not in your vocabulary.
thats my point. No hidden meanings, no toe tapping around it.
Respect is earned and not given. 1%ers may feel they have earned something but it sure as heck is not respect but fear and intimidation that comes with men who assume the role of being an outlaw and a brigand.
So if you know any 1%er please remember to tell them that.
If you are a member of the other 99% of good M/C clubs then I believe that honor might well be understood and thusly no need for intimidation nor fear will prevail in your club and then ....you have my respect. You ride for good causes and you enjoy the sport of motorcycling. More power to you. Or them as the case may be.
Now, are we all happy now?
