I think I understand now about the 'respect' thing. If the HA's were the first to wear colours and patches, then any immitation, particularly by a dance group theme night or a load of mainly middle aged bikers wearing similar style badges to them, would be see as direspectful.

Think we'll stick to Chest and sleeve badges and call ourselves a RC.
