I found a good deal on steel toed Carolina loggers at a chain stored called "Eblens"

for work around the yard and Summer riding. I'm trying to build two stone walls at the house - one of field stone, and the other of cut limestone blocks. (It sured looked easy on TV.

) The Carolinas aren't waterproof, but my experience with waterproof often equals a hot boot for Summer.
J C Penney had some Black Wellingtons (Timberlands maybe?) ala Andy Griffith style on sale a year or three ago. I use those for riding and general purpose Winter boots.
When the thermomenter drops, I'll ride with my standard issue old Sorels with the felt inner boots. Maybe I'll upgrade to the foil backed felts if I'm feeling the spendthrift this Winter.
I paid less than $60 per pair for all the above, just as the luck of the draw had them all on sale when i was shopping for them.
